PROCEEDINGS.

SEMI-ANNUAL MEETING, APRIL 29, AT THE HALL OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ARTS AND SCIENCES, IN BOSTON.

The President, Hon. STEPHEN SALISBURY, in the chair. The Secretary, Rev. ALONZO HILL, D. D., read the record of the last meeting.

The Report of the Council, prepared by the President, was read by him.

The Reports of the Librarian and the Treasurer were read by those officers severally, and adopted as parts of the Report of the Council, which was then referred to the Committee of Publication to be printed at their discretion.

Hon. JOHN R. BARTLETT, who had served as a delegate from the Society to the Archæological Congress at Antwerp, presented a Report, which was read by him in part, containing an account of the present results of investigation among the vestiges of the primitive inhabitants of Europe; a subject which had occupied a large share of the report of the Council at the last meeting of the Society.

Mr. Bartlett received the thanks of the Society for his extremely interesting document, and a desire was expressed for its publication at the discretion of the Publishing Committee, to whom the matter was referred.*
