By vertice of his May the Letters Patents, unto his Royall, Highnesse and the Authority derived unto mes. I doe doc here by appoint and authorize you M. William Vervall to bee Mayor. Mr Gabriel Minvielle, Mr. Micholas De Meyer, Mr. Thomas Gibes Mr Thomas Lewis, and M Stephanus Van Cortlandt to bee Aldermen and M. John Sharpe to bee Sherriffe of this Citry. Giving and graunting unto you the Said Mayor and Aldermen or any foure of you, whereof the Mayor or Deputy Mayor, to bee allwayes one (unless in Care of necessity by theire absence. Sicknesse or otherwise, when the Eldest Alderman is to preside). And upon equality to have the Casting and decisive voyce, with full power and Auths -rity to keepe Courts, Nominister Justice as a Court of Sessions; And Brule and Governe all the Inhabita
