the death of the righteous, and may my last end be like his." To be a Christian is something, let me tell you. As an early martyr said "I am a Christian; that is name, country, kindred, and everything to me.”

Let us proceed again. "Of judgment, because the prince of this world is judged." Divine judgment is soon to be manifested. The prince of this world, the devil, is judged. His work is under control, his days. are numbered, his punishment sure, and as of him, so of his subjects. There shall be a mighty downfall of the wicked. The righteous shall have domination over them. The judgment is set, and the books are open

ed.

Oh, see now, if this judgment did not overtake the Jewish nation. Did you ever read an account of the siege of Jerusalem? Not one stone was left upon another of the marvellous pile of buildings. Scattered and peeled among the nations, the righteous judgment of God hath rested upon the people; as if in answer to that sad prayer of theirs, said in haste, without thought or fear-" His blood be on us, and on our children." And do you think, dear brethren, that we shall escape, if we continue in unbelief and unconcern? Do you think we should escape starvation, if we declined food, again and again offered to us? Do you think we should escape drowning, if, when on the wreck, instead of jumping into the life-boat hard by, we should deliberately say "let us take our chance in the wreck." Do you think it likely you would

each home, if you persisted in sitting where you are? And how shall we escape the judgment of God? Try nd fortify the fortress of your body against the asaults of sickness and death. Proclaim war against hese fell enemies, and bid them defiance. Ah! I see ou think it hopeless; and so do I. They will spring mine, will they not? The fever, the rheum, infirmу, I know not what lurking foe, will turn traitor, pen the postern, and let in Death-Yes!—If then ye innot do that which is least, why take ye thought, are thoughtless, about the rest?

May the Paraclete, the Holy Ghost, convince us all f judgment, of our judgment, from the fact that the ince of this world is judged.

The Great Giver and the Great Gift.
