Mr. M Sherry, from the committee appointed for that purpose', made further report in part, which was read as follows, viz.

That in conjunction with a similar committee from the House of Representatives, they have compared and presented to the Governor for his approbation, the bills entitled as follow, viz.

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company for improving the Navigation in the river Lehigh.'

A supplement to an act, entitled, a further supplement to the act erecting parts of Northumberland county into separate counties, to be called Union and Columbia.'

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act for the sale of the residue of the reserve tract of land at the mouth of Big Beaver creek.'

An act to enable Mercy Ellis, Joseph Whitacre and Samuel W. Morris, guardians of the minor children of William Ellis, late of Lycoming county, deceased, to sell and convey certain real estate therein mentioned.'

An act to confirm the title of the trustees of the first Baptist church of Washington, to a lot of ground in the borough of Washington.'

• An act authorizing the settlement of certain accounts of Wil liam Hamilton, John L. Pearson and John Phillips.'

A supplement to the act, entitled, an act for the regulation of the militia of this commonwealth.'

An act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company to erect a bridge over the river Schuylkill at or near Hamburg in the county of Berks.'

An act for the relief of the Hospital at New Orleans, and of the Pennsylvania Hospital.'

Resolution directing the State Treasurer to receive monies due from the United States, expended by this state on account of the late war.'

Resolution directing a certain distribution of the supplement to the militia law.'

The Speaker laid before the Senate, a letter from the Secretary of the Commonwealth informing that he has received from Thomas Craig, a justice of the peace for Northampton county, a protest against the proceedings had against him before John

Cooper, an associate judge of said county; which protest he has transmitted to the House of Representatives,

Ordered, To lie on the table.

The Secretary of the Commonwealth being introduced, presented a message from the Governor, which was read as follows, to wit.

To the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania.

I have this day approved and signed the following acts and resolutions of the General Assembly, and directed the Secretary of the Commonwealth to return them to the houses in which they respectively originated, viz..

1. An act to declare certain creeks within this commonwealth public highways.

2. An act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over the river Susquehanna at the town of Danville.

3. An act directing the formation of a map of Pennsylvania. 4. An act assenting to a purchase made by the United States of a piece of land near Pittsburg.

5. An act to enable the executors of Walter Clark, to convey a certain tract of land.

6. An act for the relief of certain widows and children of those who died whilst in the service of this state during the late war with Great Britain.

7. An act relating to the sale of a tract of land by the sheriff of Greene county to William T. Hays, in trust for the use of the commonwealth.

8. An act for the relief of sundry old soldiers, and other per

sons.

- 9. A supplement to an act, entitled, an act to incorporate an academy or public school in the town of Waterford, and for other purposes.

10. An act vesting the superintendant of police of the district of Southwark, and the superintendant of police of the incorporated district of the Northern Liberties, with powers similar to those granted at present by law to the constables of said districts.

11. An act establishing an academy in the borough of Huntingtingdon, in the county of Huntingdon, and one in the town of Montrose in the county of Susquehanna.

12. An act further to extend for a limited time the act, entitled, an act providing for the settlement of certain disputed titles to lands north and west of the rivers Ohio and Allegheny, and Conewango creek, and for other purposes.

13. An act to continue and revive the act, entitled, an act to encouraging the warranting and patenting of lands north and west of the rivers Ohio and Allegheny and Conewango creek, and for other purposes.

14. An act relative to the incorporation of a company for erecting a bridge over the river Delaware at Columbia Glass Manufactory.

15. An act establishing certain election districts.,

16. An act making appropriation to defray certain expences of government therein mentioned.

17. A supplement to the act, entitled, an act to authorize the Governor of this commonwealth to incorporate a company for the purpose of making and erecting a bridge and road over the north east branch of the river Susquehanna in the county of Northumberland, from the public highway opposite the plantation of Thomas Grant to Shamokin Island, through the public highway of Shamokin Island to the shore opposite Northumberland, and from

thence to the town of Northumberland.

18. A supplement to the act, entitled, an act for the relief of Edward Cavenough.

19. An act to enable Everard Penrose, who was trustee for Margaret Fortman, deceased, to convey a certain tract of land. 20. An act granting a bounty to certain volunteers and mili tia of this state.

21. An act for the relief of Charles Tipper, an old soldier.

22. An act confirming the titles of Henry Shroeder, David Scott and Hugh Mulholland to certain lots of land therein mentioned.

23. An act to enable the executors of Valentine Kloess to sell certain real estate.

24. An act to enable Mercy Ellis, Joseph Whitacre and Samuel W. Morris, guardians of the minor children of William Ellis, late of Lycoming county, deceased, to sell and convey certain real estate therein mentioned.'

25. A supplement to the act, entitled, an act for the regula tion of the militia of this commonwealth.

1. Resolution directing the distribution of the pamphlet laws and journals of the present session of the legislature, and Roberts' edition of the British statutes now in force in this commonwealth.

2. Resolution directing the Secretary of the Commonwealth to have printed in pamphlet form, the act, entitled, a supplement to an act, entitled, and act for the regulation of the militia of this commonwealth, and to distribute the same.

3. Resolution authorizing the State Treasurer, to receive the balance or any part thereof, which may be offered by the proper officer of the United States, due to this commonwealth from the United States, for military purposes in aid of the late war.

I have had transmitted to me the result from a submission to the legislature of Rhode Island, of certain amendments to the constitution of the United States, proposed by the legislature of North Carolina, which, together with a copy of a letter from the Governor of that state, I have the honor to lay before you.

A supersedeas under the great seal of the state has issued, predicated upon and carrying into effect, the address of the legislature, for the removal of Joseph Brinton, Esq. late a justice of the peace in and for the county of Delaware.

The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced, presented an extract from the journal of that house, which was read as follows, to wit.

In the House of Representatives,
March 19th, 1816.

Messrs. Darlington and Rowland were appointed a committee in conjunction with a similar committee from Senate, (if Senate shall appoint such committee,) to wait upon the Governor, and en

quire whether he has any further communications to make to the fegislature, and to inform him that the General Assembly have agreed to adjourn this day.'

On motion,

Mr. Jarrett and Mr. Shearer were appointed a committee in conjunction with a committee from the House of Representatives, already appointed, to wait upon the Governor and enquire whe ther he has any further communications to make to the legislature, and inform him that the General Assembly have agreed to adjourn this day.

Ordered, That the clerk inform the House of Representatives accordingly.

And after some time,

Mr. Jarrett from the joint committee to wait upon the Gover nor, reported that they have performed that service, and that the Governor informed them that he had no further communications to make to the General Assembly.

Mr. McSherry from the committee appointed for the purpose of comparing bills and presenting them to the Governor, made final report, which was read as follows, to wit,

That the committee in conjunction with a similar committee from the House of Representatives, have deposited in the office of the Secretary of the Commonwealth for enrollment, the several acts and resolutions passed during the present session, entitled respectively as follow, to wit.

1. An act releasing to Christopher Hassinger and Elizabeth Hess, the right of this commonwealth to a certain escheated estate.

2. An act vesting the title of a certain piece of land in Somerset township, and county of Washington, in certain trustees and their successors, for the use of the German Lutheran and Calvinist congregations in said township.

3. An act authorizing Mary M'Creary one of the guardians of persons and estates of the minor children of Thomas M'Creary, deceased, to execute and receive certain releases therein mentioned, and to repeal an act heretofore passed relating thereto. 4. An act to vest in Sarah Vernon the estate of her natural son Emmor Vernon, late of Delaware county, deceased.

5. A supplement to an act, entitled, an act to erect the town of Hanover in the county of York, into a borough.

6. A further supplement to an act, entitled, an act to enable the Governor of this commonwealth, to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from the intersection of Front street and the Germantown road in the Northern Liberties of the city of Philadelphia, through Frankford and Bristol, to the ferry at Morrisville on the river Delaware.
