On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the first section?

A motion was made by Mr. White,

To amend the same by inserting after the word "thereto," at the beginning of line eight the words "or the purchase of any furniture, wooden or metallic, or of any supplies"; by striking out the word "or" in the same line; by inserting after the word "repairs" in the same line the words "or purchase of furniture or supplies the estimated cost of which"; by striking out the word "cost" in the same line and inserting in lieu thereof the word "be"; by inserting after the word "than" at the beginning of line nine the words “five hundred and in case of repairs"; by striking out the word "four" in line twelve and inserting in lieu thereof the word "three"; by inserting after the word "specifications" at the beginning of line fourteen the words "a copy of"; by striking out the word "four" where it occurs in line sixteen and inserting in lieu thereof the word "three," and by inserting after the word "lowest" where it occurs in line nineteen the words "and best."

Which was agreed to.

The section as amended was then agreed to.

The second and third sections were then separately considered and agreed to.

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the fourth section?

A motion was made by Mr. White,

To amend the same by striking out the word "two" in the last line and inserting in lieu thereof the word “one.”

Which was agreed to.

The section as amended was then agreed to.

The remaining section of the bill was then agreed to.

On the question,

Will the Senate agree to the title?

A motion was made by Mr. White,

To amend the same by inserting after the word 'same" in the last line the words "or the purchase of furniture or supplies."

Which was agreed to.

The title as amended was then agreed to.

The Senate proceeded to the first reading and consideration of Senate bill No. 27, entitled "A joint resolution to provide for the participation by the National Guard of Pennsylvania in the inaugural ceremonies of Theodore Roosevelt, President-elect of the United States, to be held in the city of Washington, District of Columbia, March fourth, one thousand nine hundred and five, and making an appropriation to pay the expenses of a provisional brigade selected for that purpose."

And said bill having been read at length the first time,

The Senate proceeded to the first reading and consideration of Senate bill No. 28, entitled “An act for the appointment and maintenance of a board to be known as the Armory Board of the State of Pennsylvania and for the payment of its expenses and for the erection and maintenance of armories for the use of the National Guard of Pennsylvania throughout the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and making an appropriation for the same."

And said bill having been read at length the first time, Ordered, To be laid aside for second reading.

The Senate proceeded to the first reading and consideration of Senate bill No. 36, entitled "An act amending the first, second and third sections of the act, entitled 'An act authorizing the condemnation of real estate needed for the use of State Normal Schools,' approved tenth July, one thousand nine hundred and one, and extending it to the condemnation of servitudes, easements of way and streets and alleys opened or unopened, laid out and dedicated by the proprietors of town plots, but not under public supervision or control, and close the same or portion thereof, and providing for the payment of costs on appeal."
