An act vesting the title of a certain piece of land in Bethel township and county of Bedford, in certain trustees and their successors, for the use of the Baptist congregation in said township,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the clerk return said bills to the House of Representatives, with information that Senate have passed the same with amendments, in which the concurrence of that house is requested.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

• An act authorizing the Secretary of the Land Office to issue a patent to Amos Judson, for an in lot in the town of Waterford in Erie county,' was read the second time as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday, considered by section and agreed to, and

Ordered, That it be prepared for a third reading.

The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced, presented for concurrence, the bill, entitled

An act to authorize the Governor to incorporate a company for erecting a bridge over the river Susquehanna at the town of Danville, near where the turnpike terminates on said river, in the county of Columbia.'

He returned the bill, entitled

An act to cede to the United States the jurisdiction to a piece of land near Pittsburg.'

And informed,

That the House of Representatives have passed said bill with amendments, in which the concurrence of Senate is requested. He further informed,

That the House of Representatives have concurred in the amendments by Senate, to the bills, entitled as follow, viz.

'An act to authorize the surveyor of the township of the Northern Liberties in the county of Philadelphia, to re-survey, lay out and regulate Slesman's alley in the incorporated district of the Northern Liberties.'

A further supplement to an act, entitled, an act to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from Harrisburg through Lewistown and Huntingdon to Pittsburg.'

The bill presented for concurrence was read the first time. The amendments by the House of Representatives, to the bill, entitled

An act to cede to the United States the jurisdiction over a piece of land near Pittsburg,' were read as follow, viz.

Sect. 1. strike out all that follows the word that' in the 3d line, to the word 'on' in line 4, and insert the following the consent of the legislature of the commonwealth of Pennsylvania is hereby granted to a purchase which the United States have lately made by Wm. B. Foster, of a certain tract of land situate.' Line 5, after the word Pittsburg' insert the following bounded as follows, to wit: Beginning at a post on the bank of said river and running thence by land of Wm. B. Foster, south 45 degrees, east 143 perches to a post, thence by land of John Ewalt south 42 degrees, west 35 perches and one quarter to a post, thence by land of the said Wm. B. Foster north 45 degress, west 128 perches and an half to a post on the bank of the Allegheny river, and thence up the said river by the several courses thereof north 19 degrees, east 39 perches to the place of beginning.'

Line 5, after acres' insertstrict measure,' from the manu script strike out these words lately purchased by the United

States from Wm. B. Foster;' add to the end thereof the following: Provided, That any thing herein contained shall not extend or be construed to extend, so as to impede or prevent the execution of any process civil or criminal, under the authority of this state. Strike out section 2.

Make the title read An act assenting to a purchase made by the United States of a piece of land near Pittsburg.'

The bill, entitled

An act affording relief to persons employed in trade from Pennsylvania, attacked by disease at New Orleans,' was read the second time, as reported by a committee of the whole yesterday, Sections 1. and 2. were severally considered and agreed to. Section 3. having been considered,

On motion of Mr. Frailey and Mr. Reed,

The Senate resumed the second reading and consideration of the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act authorizing the purchase of a certain number of cos pies of the work of Samuel Roberts, on the British statutes in force in Pennsylvania,' postponed for the present yesterday.

The question on the section recurring,

The yeas and nays were required by Mr. Murray and Mr. Reed, and are as follow, to wit.
