The rule for going into committee of the whole being in this case dispensed with, the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

to

An act to extend the act, entitled, an act to prevent the dis turbance of religious societies within the city of Philadelphia during the time of divine service, passed the 4th of April 1798, the incorporated district of the Northern Liberties, in the county of Philadelphia,' was read the second time.

The first and only section was considered and agreed to. The title having been amended by striking therefrom all that follows the word service' was agreed to.

Ordered, That said bill be prepared for a third reading.
Agreeably to order,

The Senate resolved itself into a committee of the whole, Mr. Shearer in the chair, on the bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act to provide for the continuance of courts of quarter sessions.'

And after some time,

The committee rose and reported said bill as committed.

On motion,

Said bill was read the second time, considered by section and agreed to, and

Ordered, That it be prepared for a third reading.
Adjourned until 10 o'clock to-morrow morning.

WEDNESDAY, February 14, 1816.

Mr. Murray presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Chillesquaque township, praying that they may be re-annexed to Northumberland county; and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Murray, Mr. Erwin and Mr. Lane.

On motion of Mr. Frailey and Mr. Rogers,

The Senate proceeded to the consideration of the bill, entitled An act for the relief of George Snell.'

Whereupon, on motion,

Ordered, That said bill be re-committed to a special committee, and

That Mr. Frailey, Mr. Rogers, Mr. Shearer, Mr. Erwin and Mr. Murray be the committee.

Mr. Frailey presented sundry documents relating to the claim of George Snell, which were read and referred to the last named .committee.

Mr. Erwin presented the petition and documents of Eugenia Moreau, by her attorney John S. Roulet, praying to be authorized to sell certain real estate, the property of her late husband general Moreau; and

Said petition was read and referred to Mr. Erwin, Mr. Biddle, Mr. Frailey, Mr. G. Weaver and Mr. Rogers.

Mr. Morgan presented a petition from Peter Pedersen, a subject of the kingdom of Denmark, stating that owing to his official situation it is not in his power to become a citizen of the United States, and praying that he may be authorized to purchase and hold in fee simple, real estate within this commonwealth; and The same was read and laid on the table.

On motion of Mr. Erwin and Mr. Lowrie,

Ordered, That so much of the governor's message of yesterday as relates to the navigation of the river Delaware, be referred to a committee, and

That Mr. Erwin, Mr. Morgan, Mr. Rogers, Mr. Jarrett and Mr. Shoemaker be the committee.

The clerk of the House of Representatives being introduced, presented for concurrence, the bill, entitled

A supplement to an act, entitled, an act to establish a board of wardens for the port of Philadelphia, and for the regulation of pilots and pilotages, and for other purposes therein mentioned.' He returned, the bill entitled

A further supplement to the act, entitled, an act to enable the governor to incorporate a company for making a turnpike road from Middletown to Harrisburg.'

And informed,

That the House of Representatives have passed said bill with one amendment, in which the concurrence of Senate is requested. He further informed,

That the House of Representatives have receded from their non-concurrence in the amendment insisted on by Senate, to the bill, entitled

An act to enable the Governor to incorporate a company for making an artificial road from Jersey Shore in the county of Lycoming, by the best and nearest route to Coudersport in the county of Potter."

He also presented for signature, the bills, entitled as follow, viz. An act to authorize the administrators of the estate of Thomas Huchison to convey certain real estate.'

An act repealing the act to encourage the raising of swine, far as the same respects the borough of Mercer.”

An act authorizing James Wilson of York county, to convey the right to a tract of land of Mary Wilson, a lunatic, and for other purposes.'

An act authorizing and empowering John Moore to execute a title to George Forney for certain real estate therein mentioned.'

An act relative to the building of certain bridges over the Monongahela and Allegheny rivers opposite Pittsburg.'

An act granting a sum of money to aid in removing obstructions out of Sheerman's creek.'

• An act for the relief of John Thompson.'

The amendment by the House of Representatives, to the bill, entitled

A further supplement to the act, entitled, an act to enable the governor to incorporate a company for making a turnpike road from Middletown to Harrisburg,' was read as follows, viz.

Sect. 1. line 5, strike out the word said' and after company' insert for making a turnpike road from Middletown to Harrisburg.'

On motion,

Said amendment was again read, considered and concurred in.

- Ordered, That the clerk inform the House of Representatives accordingly.

Mr. Welles from the committee to whom was referred yesterday, an item of unfinished business from the journals of the last session, together with certain documents presented this session, upon the subject of a removal of the seat of justice from Wellsborough in Tioga county, to such other place in said county as may be designated by commissioners: Reported,

That it is inexpedient to grant the prayer of the petitioners. On motion,

Said report was again read, considered and agreed to.

Mr. Welles obtained leave to withdraw from the files of Senate the documents relating to the above subject.

Mr. I. Weaver from the committee to whom was referred on the 10th inst. a petition from sundry inhabitants of Greene county, on leave given, reported a bill, entitled

An act relative to evictions from warranted lands,' which was read the first time.

The bill, entitled

An act for the better securing the free navigation of the river Delaware,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

The bill, entitled

An act to enable Edward Duffield and Joseph K. Swift, executors of John Swift, deceased, to sell and convey a certain tract of land therein mentioned,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

Ordered, That the clerk present said bills to the House of Representatives for concurrence.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

An act directing certain payments to be made to the first troop of city cavalry,' was read the third time, and

Resolved, That this bill pass.

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

The bill from the House of Representatives, entitled

THURSDAY, February 15, 1816.

Mr. Jarrett presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of Lower Smithfield township, in Northampton county, praying that the place for holding their elections may be changed to the house of George Dreher in Stroudsburg; and

Said petition was read and referred to the committee on election districts.

Mr. Morgan presented a petition from sundry inhabitants of the county of Philadelphia, praying that the property of the Pennsylvania Hospital may be exempted from taxation; and

The same was read and laid on the table.

Mr. M.Sherry from the committee appointed for the purpose, made further report in part, which was read as follows, to wit. That in conjunction with a similar committee from the House of Representatives, they have compared, and this day presented to the Governor for his approbation, the bills, entitled as follow, viz.

An act for the relief of John Thompson.'

'An act repealing the act to encourage the raising of swine so far as the same respects the borough of Mercer.'

• An act authorizing James Wilson of York county, to convey the right to a tract of land of Mary Wilson, a lunatic, and for other purposes.'
