TENTH ANNUAL MEETING, JANUARY 11 AND 12, 1887.

The Convention convened in regular Annual Meeting, in Springfield, January 11, 1887, at 10 o'clock in the forenoon, in the Supreme Court Room, and was called to order by Hon. Melville W. Fuller, President.

1. MINUTES OF PRECEDING MEETINGS,

The reading of the minutes of the last annual meeting was, on motion of Mr. J. H. Raymond, dispensed with, and the proceedings, as published and distributed, stood approved.

On motion of Mr. S. W. Moulton, a committee of three was appointed by the President, to extend an invitation to the Supreme Court of the State to attend the meetings of the Association.

The President appointed Mr. S. W. Moulton, Mr. J. C. Conkling and Mr. J. P. Altgelt as such committee.

The Court accepted, and were present in a body.

2. COMMITTEE ON ADMISSIONS.

Through its chairman, Mr. W. L. Gross, the committee reported favorably upon the applications of the following gentlemen for admission. The report was adopted, and the new members invited to seats, and to participate in the further action of the Association:

OFFICE OF THE SECRETARY,

To the Illinois State Bar Association:

January 11, 1887.

Your Executive Committee begs leave to submit the following report: On December 6, 1885, your committee met at the Leland Hotel, in Springfield, Illinois, and unanimously agreed upon the following, with reference to the Tenth Annual Meeting of this Association: The Tenth Annual Meeting of this Association will be held at Springfield, Illinois, on Tuesday and Wednesday, January 11 and 12, 1887. The Association to convene in the Supreme Court room, in the Capitol, at 10 o'clock A. M., on Tuesday, and continue in session during that and the day following.

Your committee beg leave to submit the following special order:

First day.-Memorial address on the life and services of Judge B. S. Edwards, late President of this Association, by Judge E. P. Kirby, of Jacksonville, Illinois,

Special address: "The Professional Outlook," by Mr. J. S. High, of Chicago. Special address: "Popular Opinions of the Law and those who Administer it," by Mr. H. S. Greene, of Springfield, Illinois.

Second day.-Special address: "Relations of Corporations to the Community," by Mr. G. W. Smith, of Chicago.

Special address: "The Beginning of Law in Illinois," by Mr. E. G. Mason, of Chicago.

Special address: "Decline of Litigation and some of its Causes," by Mr. S. P. Wheeler, of Cairo.

Your committee, by leave, further report they have made arrangements for a reception and banquet at the Leland Hotel, Springfield, Illinois, on Wednesday evening, January 12, 1887, beginning at 7 o'clock, and that invitations have been sent to the members of the Association and many citizens of the State not members of the Association; that several prominent speakers have promised to be present and reply to toasts.
