W HEREAS an Act passed in the seventh year of His late Majesty's reign, entitled, “ An Act granting a salary to the Clerk of the Crown in Chancery, and for other purposes therein-mentioned,” will shortly expire, and it is expedient to continue the same. We, Your Majesty's dutiful and loyal Subjects, the Commons of Upper Canada in Provincial Parliament assembled, do therefore humbly beseech Your Majesty that it may be enacted: And be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty, by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and Assembly of the Province of Upper Canada, constituted and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of Great Britain, entitled, “An Act to repeal certain parts of an Act passed in the fourteenth year of His Majesty's reign, entitled, 'An Act for making more effectual provision for the Government of the Province of Quebec, in North America, and to make further provision for the Government of the said Province," and by the authority of the same, That the said recited Act be and the same is hereby continued and made perpetual.

CHAP. LXX.

AN ACT to make good certain moneys advanced in compliance with the

Address of the House of Assembly, during the last Session of the Legis-
lature, for the contingent expenses thereof.

WHEREAS in pursuance of an Address of Your Commons House of
Assembly, during the last Session of the Provincial Legislature, to His Preambla.
Excellency Sir George Arthur, Knight Commander of the Royal Hano-
verian Guelphic Order, Lieutenant-Governor of the Province of Upper
Canada, and Major-General Commanding Her Majesty's Forces therein,
the sum of Seven Thousand Nine Hundred and Eleven Pounds and six-
pence half-penny, has been issued and advanced by Your Majesty, through
Your said Lieutenant-Governor, to the Clerks and other Officers of the
two Houses of Parliament, to enable them to pay the contingent expenses
of their respective offices.- May it therefore please Your Majesty that it
may be enacted: And be it enacted by the Queen's most Excellent Majesty,
by and with the advice and consent of the Legislative Council and
Assembly of the Province of Upper Canada, coustituted and assembled
by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament
of Great Britain, entitled, “An Act to repeal certain parts of an Act passed
in the fourteenth year of His Majesty's reign, entitled, “An Act for making
more effectual provision for the Government of the Province of Quebec,
in North America, and to make further provision for the Government of
the said Province," and by the authority of the same, That out of the
