SPECIAL SESSION OF THE GRAND LODGE OF THE UNITED STATES, Held at the City of Baltimore, September, 1835. BALTIMORE, September 1st, 1835. The R. W. Grand Lodge convened this day, at Odd Fellows' Hall, city of Baltimore, pursuant to a call from the M. W. Grand Sire, when the following were present: ROBERT NEILSON, R. W. D. G. Sire, Presiding. Sanderson, of Maryland, was appointed Grand Secretary, pro tem. The credentials of P. G. A. E. Warner, as Proxy Representative, for the Grand Lodge of District of Columbia, were presented, and on motion, referred to a special committee. The Grand Sire appointed as the committee, Rep's Keyser, of Maryland; Wildey, of Delaware; and Lucas, of Louisiana. Rep. Keyser, of Maryland, from the committee on credentials, presented the following report, which was accepted. To the R. W. Grand Lodge of the United States: The committee to whom was referred the credentials of P. G. A. E. Warner, as Proxy Representative of District of Columbia, report that they have examined the same and find them correct. GEORGE KEYSER, Rep. Warner, then appeared and took his seat. A petition was presented, signed by Joseph Metcalfe, Henry Guibert, Samuel H. Drake, John Joyes, P. H. Conant, J. Y. Dashiell and William Twyman, praying for a charter for a lodge, to be located at Louisville, Kentucky, and hailed as ". Lodge, No. 4," On motion, the petition was referred to a special committee. The Grand Sire appointed Rep's Lucas, of Louisiana; Wildey, of Delaware; and Warner, of District of Columbia, the committee. A petition was presented from P. G's John J. Roach, John Hawkins, Stephen Barclay, Joseph Metcalfe, Joseph Barclay, Henry Wolford and Thomas Devan, of Boon Lodge, No. 1; S. S. Lyon, of Chosen Friends Lodge, No. 2; and Benjamin Moses, of Washington Lodge, No. 3; praying for a charter for a Grand Lodge for the state of Kentucky, to be located at Louisville. On motion, the petition was referred to a special committee of three. The Grand Sire appointed as the committee, Rep's Wildey, of Delaware; Warner, of District of Columbia; and Keyser, of Maryland. A petition was presented, from Edward Cooke, William Ball, Andrew Romfry, William Palkinghorn, John Cole, Richard Johns, George Mitchell, John Cassely, John Rich, Ralph Goldsworthy, John Cock, Joseph R. James and Edmund Paul, praying for a charter for a lodge to be located at Mineral Point, Iowa Territory, to be styled "Iowa Lodge, No. 1.” On motion, the petition was referred to a special committee. The Grand Sire announced Rep's Keyser, of Maryland; Lucas, of Louisiana; and Warner, of District of Columbia; the committee. The D. Grand Sire stated that he had received a petition signed by Peter W. Kenaday, T. B. Edmonson, William Gregory, Joseph Tretwell, Jesse Bullard, William B. Clark, James Montgomery and E. C. Hawkins, praying for a charter for a lodge to be located at Wheeling, Virginia, to be styled "Virginius Lodge, No. 3," which had received the sanction of a majority of the Representatives of the Grand Lodge of the United States; that the same was forwarded, and that the lodge was now in successful operation. Whereupon, on motion, the grant of the charter for Virginius Lodge, No. 3, Wheeling, Virginia, was confirmed. Rep. Lucas, of Louisiana, from the special committee to whom was referred the petition of Joseph Metcalfe and others, submitted the following report. To the R. W. Grand Lodge of the United States: The special committee to whom was referred the petition of Joseph Metcalfe and others, praying for a charter for a lodge to be located at Louisville Kentucky, and hailed Lodge, No. 4, report, that they have considered the subject referred, and recommend that the charter be granted, and submit the accompanying resolution for adoption. SAMUEL LUCAS, THOMAS WILDEY, Resolved, That the charter be granted as prayed for, and that the petitioners be instructed, that in selecting their name, they must not take that of any lodge heretofore instituted in said state. On motion, the report was accepted, and the resolution adopted. Rep. Wildey, of Delaware, from the special committee to whom was referred the petition of P. G's John J. Roach and others, presented the following report. To the R. W. Grand Lodge of the United States: The undersigned to whom was referred the petition of P. G's John J. Roach and others, praying for a charter for a Grand Lodge, for the state of Kentucky, and to be located at Louisville, respectfully report, that they have attended to the duty assigned them, and submit the following resolution for adoption. THOMAS WILDEY, Resolved, That a charter for a Grand Lodge for the state of Kentucky,* be granted to P. G's John J. Roach and others, and to be located at Louisville. On motion, the report was accepted and the resolution adopted. Rep. Keyser, of Maryland, from the special committee to whom was referred the petition of Edward Cooke and others, submitted the following report. To the R. W Grand Lodge of the United States: The undersigned to whom was referred the petition of Edward Cooke and others, praying for a charter for a lodge to be located at Mineral Point, Iowa Territory, and hailed as Iowa Lodge, No. 1, respectfully report, that they have taken the subject into consideration, and are of opinion that the prayer of the petitioners should be granted, and submit the following reso lution for adoption. All of which is respectfully submitted. GEORGE KEYSER, ANDREW E. WARNER. Resolved, That the prayer of the petitioners be granted. On motion, the report was accepted and the resolution adopted. On motion, it was Resolved, That D. D. G. M. Taylor, of Schuylkill county, Pennsylvania, be deputed to institute Iowa Lodge, No.1, Mineral Point, Iowa Territory.
