The several comparative statements submitted will, I trust, be found worthy of perusal. YEAR. I.-PUBLIC SCHOOLS. I. SCHOOL POPULATION-ATTENDANCE. School Population. The school population of the Province, as ascertained through the assessors for the last fifteen years, is as follows :— The average attendance of rural pupils was 48 per cent. of the registered attendance, while in towns it was 61 per cent. and in cities 67 per cent.
