ments of the Supreme Court. Upon receiving a second to this motion I will give the reasons for it.

Motion seconded.

MR. BENNETT: Mr. Chairman and Gentlemen: The purpose of this is as follows: We have a statutory requirement as to preliminary education for admission to the bar examination. We have another standard adopted by the Supreme Court which is materially higher than that adopted by the statute. There have been a number of applicants for admission to the bar who, relying upon the statute, came to the examination prepared to present all the certificates required by the statute, when they found the statute was not being followed and that the rule of the court was adopted in its place. Therefore the members of the bar generally in the State, in whose offices various students have been reading during the required time are not informed as to this difference between the statutory requirement and the court requirement. Now, if they should be made the same, the information would be carried out to the persons who are now reading, acquainting them with the fact that the statutory requirement and the judicial requirement are the same.

Motion carried.

THE PRESIDENT: I will appoint as Delegates and Alternates to the American Bar Association, as the President is required to do, Hon. John W. Herron, of Cincinnati; Hon. John N. VanDeman, of Dayton; and Hon. Thomas H. Hogsett, of Cleveland as Delegates; and Hon. Selwyn N. Owen, of Columbus; Hon. Charles T. Lewis, of Toledo, and Hon. A.R. Johnson, of Ironton, as Alternates.

THE PRESIDENT: I will next call for the report of the standing committees.

MR. LANING: I would like to inquire what the custom is as to notifying the members of committees of their appointment, especially those who are not here? I notice some of them are not here and some never attend the meeting of this Association. I think it would be proper for them to be notified by letter that they have been appointed.

THE SECRETARY: I did that at the close of the last meeting of the Association.

THE PRESIDENT: The Secretary will notify them. THE PRESIDENT: Is there any other business, gentlemen? THE PRESIDENT: I thanked the Association in the beginning for conferring on me the honor of presiding over its deliberations. I desire now to thank every member present at this annual meeting for the active and earnest efforts which you have put forth during this session to make it what I believe it is, and what you recognize it as being, one of the most successful sessions in the history of the Association. Again, I thank

you.

If there is no further business a motion to adjourn will be in order.

Adjourned sine die.
