Island, near the mouth of the Cumberland River, has been partially torn away by the large masses of floating ice and timber occasionally to be found in said river, thereby rendering the navigation of the river at that point dan gerous at all times, and, during the season of low water, impracticable, except with the smallest class of vessels, and with such only at much expense, and with great danger both to life and property; thus rendering the navigation of the river, in its present condition, more difficult and dangerous than before the erection of said dam. Therefore, Resolved, by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That our Senators in Congress be instructed and our Representatives requested to use all proper means to procure the passage of a law by the Congress of the United States, providing for the removal of said obstruction by the General Government, by the re-building of said dam, or otherwise; and that his Excellency the Governor of this Commonwealth be requested to transmit a copy hereof to each of our Senators and Representatives in Congress.
