About the author (2009)

Mieke Bal is professorat the Royal Netherlands Academy of Arts and Sciences and cofounder of the Amsterdam School for Cultural Analysis at the University of Amsterdam. Her previous books include Louise Bourgeois' Spider: the Architecture of Art-Writing and The Artemisia Files: Artemisia Gentileschi for Feminists and Other Thinking People, both published by the University of Chicago Press.
