The Complete Idiot's Guide to Portrait Photography

Front Cover
Penguin, 2002 - Photography - 330 pages
A book that actually teaches readers the how-to's of portrait photography, rather than have them figure it out on their own from admiring the final product.

-- A lot of books on portrait photography are 4-color, 8 1/2 x 11, 150 page catalogs of the photography. This book will provide readers with the actual information and illustrations necessary to produce professional level photographs.

-- Will be the least intimidating and most comprehensive book on portrait photography.

-- Will appeal to anyone who loves to take family photos and wants to learn how to make them more professional looking.

Eighty billion photographs are taken around the world each year, and portrait photography is by far the biggest sub-segment of the market. It is also the form of photography that most warrants its own how-to book because the point of portrait photography isn't just to capture a person's image, but their essence as well. And the skills necessary to put a subject at ease is something you won't find in any general book on photography. The Complete Idiot's Guide "RM" to Portrait Photography will be an illustration-intensive how-to book that introduces readers to both the mechanics and art of photographing people, including coverage on selecting the right equipment, preparing for the shoot, the art of capturing the subject, film development and printing, and turning a hobby into a career.
