BRIDGE ACROSS FOX RIVER AT ALGONQUIN, ILLINOIS

Mr. IGOE, from the Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, submitted the following

REPORT

[To accompany H. R. 8238]

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 8238) to extend the times for commencing and completing the construction of a free highway bridge across the Fox River at Algonquin, in McHenry County, State of Illinois, having considered and amended the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

Amend the bill as follows:

Page 1, line 4, after the word "of" strike out the word "the" and insert the word "a" in lieu thereof, line 6, after the word "by' strike out the word "the" and insert the word "an" in lieu thereof; line 8, strike out the figures "1931" and insert the figures "1932" in lieu thereof.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.

So far as the interests committed to this department are concerned, I know of no objection to the favorable consideration of the accompanying bill (H. R. 8238, 72d Cong., 1st sess.) to extend the times for commencing and completing the construction of a free highway bridge across the Fox River at Algonquin, in McHenry County, State of Illinois, if amended as indicated in red thereon.

DEAR MR. RAYBURN: Careful consideration has been given to the bill H. R. 8238, transmitted with your letter of January 23 with request for a report thereon and such views relative thereto as the department might desire to communicate.

This bill would extend for one and three years, respectively, from February 13, 1931, the times for commencing and completing the construction of the free highway bridge across the Fox River at Algonquin, McHenry County, Ill., authorized by the act of Congress approved February 13, 1931, to be built by the State of Illinois. The location of the proposed bridge is on the system of Federal-aid highways approved for the State of Illinois. Favorable action on the bill is recommended.

AN ACT Granting the consent of Congress to the State of Illinois to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across the Fox River at Algonquin, in McHenry County, State of Illinois

Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the United States of America in Congress assembled, That the consent of Congress is hereby granted the State of Illinois to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge and approaches thereto across the Fox River, at a point suitable to the interests of navigation, at Algonquin, Illinois, in section 34, township 43 north, range 8 east, third principal meridian, in accordance with the provisions of the act entitled "An act to regulate the construction of bridges over navigable water," approved March 23, 1906.

SEC. 2. That the right to alter, amend, or repeal this act is hereby expressly reserved.

BRIDGE ACROSS TRINITY RIVER BETWEEN THE COUNTIES OF NAVARRO AND HENDERSON, IN THE STATE OF TEXAS

REPORT

[To accompany H. R. 8250]

The Committee on Interstate and Foreign Commerce, to whom was referred the bill (H. R. 8250) granting authority to the Texas State Highway Commission to maintain and operate, as constructed a free highway bridge across the Trinity River between the counties of Navarro and Henderson, in the State of Texas, having considered and amended the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

Amend the bill as follows:

Page 1, line 7, before the word "between," insert the words "0.7 mile west of Trinidad,".

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments as will appear by the letters attached.

This bill would authorize the Texas Highway Commission, their successors and assigns, to maintain and operate the free bridge and approaches thereto, as constructed, across Trinity River, between the counties of Navarro and Henderson, State of Texas. The bridge in question is located on the system of Federal-aid highways approved for Texas and is a part of section C of Texas Federal-aid project No. 375. Favorable action on the bill is recommended.

R. 8324) granting the consent of Congress to the State of Illinois to construct a free highway bridge across Rock River at Byron, in Ogle County, State of Illinois, having considered and amended the same, report thereon with a recommendation that it pass.

Amend the bill as follows:

Page 1, line 9, after the word "of" strike out the word "the" and insert the word "an" in lieu thereof.

Amend the title so as to read:

A bill granting the consent of Congress to the State of Illinois to construct, maintain, and operate a free highway bridge across Rock River at Byron, in Ogle County, State of Illinois.

The bill has the approval of the War and Agriculture Departments, as will appear by the letters attached.
