that the diameter of the circle of the top of the measure shall be not less than one-twentieth greater than the diameter of the bot tom of the measure, and the height not more than nine-twelfths of the diameter of the bottom.

SECTION 16. The denominations of weight of this Common. wealth, whereof the troy pound as heretofore provided is the standard unit, with the relations thereof to said standard and to each other, shall be:

Twenty-four grains make one pennyweight.
Twenty pennyweights make one ounce.
Twelve ounces make one pound.

SECTION 17. The denominations of weight of this Commonwealth, whereof the pound avoirdupois as heretofore provided is the standard unit, with the relations to said pound and to each other, shall be:

Sixteen drams make one ounce.
Sixteen ounces make one pound.
Twenty-five pounds make one quarter.

Four quarters make one hundred.

Twenty hundreds make one ton.

A SUPPLEMENT

To the act entitled, Ag act to enable the Governor to incorporate the Harrisburg Water Company.

SECTION 1. It is enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the president and managers of the Harrisburg water company, shall cause the canal authorized to be constructed by the provisions of the said act, to be extended of the width of twenty-five feet from Pine street, along Front street, outside the abutment of the Harrisburg bridge to the lower line of the borough of Harrisburg: Provided, That the said extension shall be so constructed as not to prejudice the public landing,

and be covered in its whole passage along front street above the bridge: And provided, That the said extension may pass within six feet of the private burial ground on Front street; and that in laying out and constructing said canal, due regard shall be had towards forming a junction with the contemplated out-let locks and cross cut, from the state canal to the river Susque hanna: And provided further, That proper bridges across the said canal shall be constructed by the said company at suitable intervals, for the accommodation of the public, so as to afford convenient access to the landing along the front of the town. SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Re: presentatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That George Barnett, Robert Kelly, James Marshall, Jonas Ickes, Benjamin M'Intire, John M'Keehan, and David Lupfer, and their successors are hereby erected into one body politic and corporate, in deed and in law by the name, style, and title of "The Bloomfield Saving Fund Association," and by the same name shall have perpetual succession, and are hereby made able and capable in law to receive and hold to them and their successors, lands, goods and chattels, real, personal and privileges. mixed, for the use and benefit of the said society, and the same to alien, release, transfer, and convey at pleasure: Provided, Proviso. SECTION 4. The said corporation shall be authorized to invest its funds in public stocks of this State or of the United States, or real securities or in the discount of notes and personal securities: Provided, That the rate of discount at which loans may be made by the said institution shall not exceed one helf per centum for thirty days, and it shall not purchase promissory notes, bills, bonds or other regociable securities at s greater rate of discount.

SECTION 5. The business of the said society shall be managed and conducted by thirteen directors to be chosen in the manner hereinafter mentioned, seven of whom shall form a quorum to do business; they shall choose from their own number a president and secretary, and appoint a treasurer, and the office of the said institution shall be in the town of New Bloomfield. No president, secretary or director or any other officer of such institution shall directly or indirectly become a borrower from the same.

SECTION 6. It shall be the duty of the persons named in the first section of this act, or a majority of them, to appoint a treastreasurer, &c. urer and give notice in all the newspapers in the county of Perry for at least ten days, of the appointment of their treasu rer, and that all persons of lawful age desirous of becoming depositors in the said society and of exercising the rights of a member thereof, shall have the right of paying to the said treasurer, any sum not less than ten dollars, and at the expiration of the said time it shall be the duty of the treasurer to give notice Notice to be in the papers aforesaid, for at least three weeks, that an election will be held, specifying the time and place for the election of thirteen directors of the said society, to serve for one year, at which and all subsequent elections the members aforesaid

To the act entitled "An act to improve the Norwegian creak in Schuylkill county," passed April fourteenth, one thousand eight hundred and twenty seven.

SECTION 1. SECTION 2. To remove all doubts on the subject the Schuylkill Valley Nav'n Schuylkill Valley Navigation and Rail Road company, are and R.
