AN ACT

To prevent the destruction of Fish in Stony Creek, and its tributary Streams.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of make the same, That any person or persons, who shall or may use of any poisonous or destructive substance, by throwing or causing the same to be thrown into the said creek or any of its tributary streams, or who shall wantonly and maliciously kill or injure the fish, or use any other means by which they may destroy fish, which are not of a suitable size and fit for use, such person or persons, so offending, on conviction thereof, before a justice of the peace, of the county where such offence shall have been committed, shall pay a fine of five dollars for every such offence, to be recovered as debts of equal amount are by law recoverable, by any person or persons who may sue for the same; one moiety thereof to be paid to the informer, and the other moiety to be paid to the supervisors of the roads of the township where such conviction shall have taken place, to be applied by them to the improvement of the roads of said township. Authorizing Levi Brown, Jeremiah Brown, and Slater Brown, and others, of Lancaster county, to occupy the shore of the river Susquehanna, at and near their slate quarries.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Levi Brown, Jeremiah Brown, and Slater Brown,

SECTION 3. Nicholas Boyd, his heirs and assigns, be and Boyd allowed they are hereby authorized and permitted to erect wharves on the river Susquehanna, opposite his land in Little Britain township, Lancaster county, between what is call the Fall rock and the old stone ferry house: Provided, That in so using and occupying the said shore, they shall not at any time obstruct, impede, or in any wise injure the navigation of the said river, or boat channel in the said stream, nor put any obstruction in the public highway along the said river.

SECTION 4. The said Nicholas Boyd, his heirs and assigns, be and they are hereby authorized to demand, take and receive a reasonable sum for wharfage for all rafts, arks, boats, or other craft, that may come to or land at the said wharves: Provided, That the legislature reserve the right hereafter, if necessary, to fix a rate of wharfage.

To enable the Guardians of Ann Shreiner, Eliza Shreiner, and Catha, rine Hoffman, to sell and convey certain real estate, and for other purposes.

SECTION 1. Guardian of Van Lear, deceased, is hereby authorized and empowered, by children of himself or by his agent, duly constituted to convey, release, and Wm. ri. SECTION S. George Levers, junior, and Peter Messinger, trustees of the Forks township school house, in the county of Northampton, are hereby authorized to sell, by public or pri vate sale, that part of a lot of ground, cut off from the main body of said lot by a road leading from Easton, in said county, commonly called the Easton road, which lot of ground, was sold and conveyed by Barnet Walter, to Michael Butz and John Yeager, on behalf of the Lutheran and Presbyterian congrega. tions, of Forks township, by deed of conveyance, dated, the twenty-sixth day of October, one thousand seven hundred and seventy-one, and to convey the same to the purchaser or purchasers thereof. Provided however, That the proceeds of any such sale, shall be appropriated to building a school house on the remainder of said lot.

SECTION 4. Christian Knecht and Charles Brown, trustees Trustees of of the school association of Forks township, in the county of Northampton, are hereby authorized to sell, at public or private said tp. to sell sale, such part of a lot of land, situate in said township, near a certain lot, Knecht's, as to them shall be deemed expedient, which lot of land was conveyed by Ulrich Knecht and John Gross, to John Sweitzer and Christian Knecht, by a deed of conveyance, bearing date, the seventeenth day of December, one thousand eight hundred and fourteen, in trust, for the purpose of erecting a school house thereon, and to convey the same to the purchaser or purchasers thereof: Provided however, That before any, such sale shall be valid, it shall be approved by a majority of said school association: And provided further, That the pro ceeds of any such sale, shall be appropriated to the payment of a debt incurred in building a school house on said lot.

AN ACT

To erect Brookville, Armagh, Shrewsbury and Greenfield into boroughs; and to alter the act incorporating the borough of Meadville.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the town of Brookville, in the county of Jefferson, shall be and the same is hereby erected into a borough, which Name. shall be called "the borough of Brookville, in the county of Jefferson," bounded and limited as follows, viz: Beginning at the Boundaries. south-west corner of lot number twenty-two in said town, near or adjoining Hunt's point; thence due north along the marked line of said town, to a post on the north side of Butler's alley; thence along the north side of said alley to its extremity; thence by a continued east line to the north-east corner of the mill lot; thence south three degrees, east eighty-four perches, to a red oak; thence south eighteen perches to a post; thence south ten degrees, west seventeen perches, to a white pine; thence south twenty-four degrees, west fifty-nine perches, to a post; thence west twenty perches to the west side of Sandy Lick creek at high water mark; thence up said creek, following the several courses thereof to a point east of and opposite the mouth of the south end of Rose alley, being the extremity of the out lots; thence east to a maple opposite the south end of Pickering street; thence north to the north-east corner of Water and Pickering streets; thence along the south side of Water street to the north-east corner of lot number twenty-two aforesaid; thence around the lines of said lot to the place of beginning.

SECTION 2. It shall and may be lawful for all persons entiiled to vote for members of the Legislature, who have resided Election of in said borough twelve months immediately previous to such elec- council, burtion, to meet at the court house in said borough, (or at such other gess and high place as may hereafter be appointed) on the second Monday in May in every year, and then and there elect by ballot, between the hours of twelve and six o'clock of the same day, one reputa ble citizen residing in said borough, who shall be styled the burgess of said borough, and five reputable citizens residing in said borough, who shall be a town council, and shall also elect one reputable citizen as high constable; but previously to such election, the inhabitants shall elect two reputable citizens as judges, one inspector and two clerks of said election, which shall be regulated and conducted according to the general election laws of this Commonwealth, so far as relates to receiving and counting votes, and who shall be subject to the same penalties for mal-practices as by the said laws are imposed.
