Counseling Across the Lifespan: Prevention and Treatment

Cindy L. Juntunen is Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Counseling at the University of North Dakota. She received her Ph.D. from the University of California, Santa Barbara in 1994. Professor Juntunen’s research interests include vocational psychology, supervision, and social action. She has published in areas of career development for women and Native Americans, School-to-Work, and supervision. She is currently directing an action research project designed to increase career aspirations and enhance work satisfaction for people moving from welfare to self-sufficiency. Donald R. Atkinson is Professor of Education in the combined Counseling, Clinical, and School Psychology program at the University of California, Santa Barbara. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin in 1970. Professor Atkinson is a Fellow in the American Psychological Society and Divisions 17 and 45 of the American Psychological Association. He is a co-author of Counseling American Minorities: A Cross-Cultural Perspective (now in its 5 th edition), Counseling Non-Ethnic American Minorities, and Counseling Diverse Populations (now in its 2 nd edition), and author or co-author of over 130 journal articles, most of which report the results of research on cultural variables in counseling.
