ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: Family Impact Seminar is a policy analyses project of the Institute for Educational Leadership at George Washington University in Washington, D.C. The Seminar was established to develop and test methods of examining governmental programs to determine how they affect the membership and functioning of families. The objective behind the analyses is to achieve a climate of greater governmental sensitivity to the needs of the full range of diverse American families. Family Impact Seminar has initiated a pilot project, "Teenage Pregnancy and Family Impact: New Perspectives on Policy", to determine what role families play in the prevention and/or resolution of the adolescent's pregnancy and whether public policies and programs are aware of the family's role. The seminar has also conducted studies on foster care policies and their effect on families, and a study on flexible work hours to determine their positive and negative effects on the functioning of the family.
