ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: AASECT is a professional organization of people interested and involved in the areas of sex education, family and sex counseling. AASECT, founded in 1967, to assist in the development of quality standards in sex education and counseling continues to provide training, education, research information and a certification program for its members.

REGIONAL OR STATE OFFICES: There are no regional or state offices.

PUBLICATIONS INCLUDE: A Quarterly Newsletter and a semi-annual journal, Journal of Sex Education and Therapy. A publications list of all resources is available through the Washington, D.C. office.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: The overall goal of the American Home Economics Association (AHEA) is to improve the quality of individual and family life. The AHEA carries out its mission to improve the quality of life through education research, cooperative programs and public information. Within the AHEA is the Center for the Family, whose mission is to direct attention and action to trends, issues, and needs related to the family through advocacy, research, leadership development, resource referral and program generation. Priority issues for this year are adolescent parenting and family violence. The American Home Economics Association is composed of 18 (eighteen) subject matters and professional sections of which members can join.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: The American Humane Association, Children's Division's overall goal is to promote, stimulate, and improve the Child Protection Services at the community level. Its services include: research, training, and consultation to community based programs. The Children's Division stresses the importance of the development of a community network of services. Recently, the Research Division completed a nationwide survey of Child Protection Services in America. The survey was a detailed analysis of the types of community services used by Child Protection Agencies. It revealed that one of the most widely used and available services was family planning. This report will be published in November, 1979.

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: The aims of the American Red Cross are to improve the quality of human life and enhance individual self-reliance and concern for others. The Red Cross works toward these aims through national and chapter services governed and directed by volunteers. The services provided by the Red Cross are geared to help people avoid emergencies, prepare for emergencies and to cope with them when they occur. To accomplish its aims, the Red Cross provides volunteer blood services to a large segment of the nation, conducts community services, and as mandated by its Congressional Charter, serves as an independent medium of voluntary relief and communication between the American people and the armed forces. The Red Cross also maintains a system of local, national and international disaster preparedness and relief; and assists the government of the United States to meet humanitarian treaty commitments. The Red Cross has eight divisions within its organization, one of which is the Youth Services and Development. This division is designed to involve youth in all aspects of the Red Cross. Also within the Nursing and Health Services Division, courses have been developed in parenting: "Preparation for Parenthood" and "Parenting: Birth To Two Years of Age."

ABOUT THE ORGANIZATION: Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development (ASCD), is a private, non-profit membership organization of professionals in the educational field and educational institutions. The overall goal of ASCD is to promote the improvement of education through development of programs and practices which will facilitate the wholesome development of all persons involved in educational efforts. All goals and objectives of the organization are for the public purpose of improving curriculum development and supervision in schools. The organization sponsors an annual meeting, institutional workshops and other activities to enhance their efforts.

REGIONAL OR STATE OFFICES: ASCD has no permanent regional offices; however, there are state units. For information on the state units, please contact the headquarters in Washington, D.C.

PUBLICATIONS INCLUDE: ASCD publishes Curriculum and Leadership Journals, a Year Book and educational books and pamphlets.
