Quarter-Day in the Year (the first Payment to begin on the Twenty-fourth Day of June next) pay unto the Genealogist Three Nobles; to the King of Arms, Regifter, Secretary, and GentlemanUsher, One Mark to each of them; and to the Meffenger One Noble: And, that these Officers may be encouraged to apply their Studies with the utmost Industry, We recommend to the faid Companions, that in their first Chapter they would fettle fome Method, that their annual Penfions may be effectually and regularly discharged, with fuch other Provifions as fhall be thought convenient.

AND to the End that the Fees to be paid to the Great Mafter, and the feveral Officers of this Order, upon the Election or Nomination of any Knight Companion into the same, may be particularly ascertained and established, in Pursuance of the Declaration contained in Our Royal Letters Patents above recited, We do hereby, for Us, Our Heirs and Succeffors, direct, appoint, and ordain, That the Sum of One Hundred and ThirtyEight Pounds fhall be paid to the Great Master of the faid Order for the Time being, by every Person that shall be nominated unto, and accept the Honour

Honour of a Companion of the faid Order; and that the Sum of Twenty-two Pounds Six Shillings and Eight-pence fhall be paid by every fuch Companion to the Dean of the faid Order, out of which faid Sum the Prebendaries of Westminster shall receive their Part, according to the ufual Method of Partition obferved in dividing Profits belonging to that Chapter; and to the King of Arms, Register, Genealogift, Secretary, and Ufher, and to each of them, the Sum of Twenty-two Pounds, to be respectively paid to them by every fuch Companion; and to the Meffenger the Sum of Eighteen Pounds Thirteen Shillings and Fourpence: And that every fuch Companion, beyond these Sums, fhall alfo pay for the Copy of these Statutes, Notice of his Election, Summons for his Installation, and Certificate thereof, the Sum of Ten Marks for each of them refpectively; and for the Escutcheon of his Arms, and for those of his Efquires, which fhall be fixed to the Back of their respective Stalls, the Sum of Twenty Marks for each of them respectively: And in Case there fhall be a Dispensation for the not perfoming any of the Particularities required by the old Rituals, or these Statutes, in conferring the Knighthood of the Bath,

the Perfon, to whom fuch Difpenfation fhall be granted, shall pay for the fame the Sum of Forty Marks; and for the Banner which shall be placed over his Stall, Fifteen Marks; and alfo for the Helmet, Creft, Sword, and Mantlings, Seven Marks.

NINETEENTHLY, Whereas, by the Statutes of the Most Noble Order of the Garter, it is ordained, That none fhall be elected and chofen to be Fellow and Companion thereof, except that he be a Knight without Reproach; We do hereby declare and ordain, for the great Love, Favour, and Confidence, We bear towards the Knights of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, That from henceforth a special Regard fhall be had, in preferring, advancing, and presenting them to be Companions of the Most Noble Order of the Garter.

TWENTIETHLY, That whenever any Companion of this Moft Honourable Order fhall be elected into the Moft Noble Order of the Garter, it shall be entirely in the Power of such Companion to refign this Order by an Inftrument under his Hand, to be entered in the Register of this Order;

or, if he shall design to retain this Order, he shall make the previous Proteftations usual in Cases of the Acceptance of another Order.

LASTLY, We hereby command and enjoin, That these Statutes, and every Article thereof, fhall for ever be inviolably obferved within our faid Order; referving to Ourselves the Power of adding, and of explaining any Particular therein : Which Additions and Explanations, under Our Sign Manual, fhall be taken as Part and Parcel of thefe Our Statutes.

EORGE, by the Grace of God, King of

Great Britain, France, and Ireland, Defender of the Faith, &c. and Sovereign of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath, To all, to whom these Presents shall come, Greeting. Whereas We are refolved to advance the Honour and Splendour of the Most Honourable Order of the Bath; We, by Virtue of Our Royal Prerogative, and in Confequence of the Power referved to Us in the Statutes, do hereby ordain and enjoin, That the following Articles and Explanations are, and shall be always deemed to be Part and Parcel of the Statutes to be perpetually obferved.

FIRST, It is Our Royal Pleasure, and We hereby enjoin, That the Master of Our Jewel-House, for the Time being, fhall, upon the Warrant of the Great Mafter of this Order, provide for every Companion that is, or shall be elected into this Order, a Collar of Gold of Thirty Ounces Troy Weight; which Collar fhall be compofed of several Imperial Crowns of Gold, tied or linked with Gold Knots enamelled
