The Board of Directors of The Associated Press met in regular session at the general offices at II o'clock to-day.

The Secretary presented the minutes of the last Minutes. meeting of the Board, and they were, on motion, approved as printed.

E. B. Haskell.

The Secretary submitted the resignation of Mr. Resignation E. B. Haskell as Vice-President.

On motion, Mr. Haskell's resignation was accepted with regret.

The Secretary read the report* of the Auditing Auditing Committee, as printed in the Annual Volume.

On motion, the report was accepted and ordered filed.

Mr. W. L. Hardison, of the Los Angeles (Cal.) Herald, has resigned, and Mr. Frank G. Finlayson, an executive officer of the Herald Company, the present owner, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. Samuel T. Clover, of the Los Angeles (Cal.) Evening Express, has resigned, and Mr. Edwin T. Earl, an executive officer of the Evening Express Company, has succecced him in membership. Mr. Clover, the previous member, resigns in order to assume full editorial charge of the paper. A new certificate has been issued, The $400 bond standing in Mr. Clover's name has been cancelled and reissued to Mr. Earl.

Mr. J. O. Heimberger, of the Leadville (Colo.) Herald Democrat has died, and Mrs. Hattie Heimberger, an executive officer of the Leadville Publishing and Printing Company, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. John B. Lyon, Jr., of the Boise (Idaho) Evening Bulletin, has surrendered his certificate with notice that the name of his paper has been changed to the Evening Capital-News. A new certificate has been issued.

Mr. E. W. Thielecke, of the Cairo (Ill.) Bulletin, has resigned, and Mr. David S. Lansden, an executive officer of the Bulletin Company, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. R. W. Patterson, of the Chicago (Ill.) Daily Tribune, has resigned, and Mr. J. M. McCormick, an executive officer of the Tribune Company, has succeeded him in membership. A new certificate has been issued. The $1,000 bond standing in Mr. Patterson's name has been cancelled and reissued to Mr. McCormick.

Mr. Charles L. Henry, of the Indianapolis (Ind.) Journal, desires to be permitted to withdraw owing to the discontinuance of publication of the Indianapolis Journal. Mr. Henry has surrendered his Associated Press First Mortgage Gold Bond No. 215 to Mr. George F. McCulloch (the purchaser of the Journal), who has asked for its redemption, which has been accorded him.

Mr. George F. McCulloch, of the Indianapolis (Ind.) Morning Star, has surrendered his certificate with notice that the name of his paper has been changed to the Indianapolis Morning Star and Journal. A new certificate has been issued.

Mr. William C. Ball, of the Terre Haute (Ind.) Gazette, has resigned, and Mr. James S. Barcus, an executive officer of the Tribune Publishing Company, the present owner, has succeeded him in membership. Mr. James S. Barcus has also given notice that the name of his paper has been changed to The Tribune Gazette. The $25.00 bond standing in the name of Mr. William C. Ball has been cancelled and reissued to Mr. Barcus.

Mr. E. B. Haskell, of the Boston (Mass.) Daily Herald, has [Sept. 20, 1901.) resigned, and Mr. W. E. Haskell, an executive officer of the Boston Changes in Membership. Herald Company, has succeeded him in membership. A new certificate has been issued. The $1,000.00 bond standing in Mr. E. B. Haskell's name has been cancelled and reissued to Mr. W. E. Haskell. Boston Herald. Mr. Fred E. Whiting, of the Boston (Mass.) Evening Herald, Boston Evening has resigned, and Mr. Harry H. Holmes, an executive officer of the Boston Herald Company, has succeeded him in membership. A new certificate has been issued. The $1,000 bond standing in Mr. Fred E. Whiting's name has been cancelled and reissued to Mr. Harry H. Holmes.

Mr. Irving W. Snyder, of the Bay City (Mich.) Tribune, has Bay City resigned, and Mr. Edward D. Cowles, a member of the firm of McCabe and Cowles, the present owners, his succeeded him in membership. A new eertificate has been issued.

Mr. Clyde S. Mackenzie, of the Calumet (Mich.) Copper Country Calumet News. News, has resigned, and Mr. James H. Seager, an executive officer

of the Mining Gazette Company, the present owner, has succeeded

him in membership. A new certificate has been issued.

Times.

Mr. Robert B. Thurston, of the Minneapolis (Minn.) Times, has Minneapolis resigned, and Mr. Albert Dollenmayer, an executive officer of the Times Newspaper Company, has succeeded him in membership. The $1,000 bond standing in Mr. R. B. Thurston's name has been cancelled and reissued to Mr. Albert Dollenmayer.

Mr. Harry S. Jewell, of the Springfield (Mo.) Leader-Democrat, Springfield has surrendered his certificate, with notice that the name of his paper Democrat. has been changed to The Leader-Democrat. A new certificate has

been issued.

Mr. Jesse B. Roote, of the Great Falls (Mont.) Tribune, has Great Falls resigned, and Mr. A. H. Wethey, an executive officer of The Tribune (a corporation), has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. Edward W. Gray, of the Newark (N. J.) Advertiser, has resigned, and Mr. Aug. W. Schwartz, an executive officer of the Newark Daily Advertiser Publishing Company, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. D. A. Macpherson, of the Albuquerque (N. M.) Journal- Albuquerque Democrat, has surrendered his certificate, with notice that the name of his paper has been changed to the Albuquerque Morning Journal. A new certificate has been issued.

Mr. Cyrus E. Jones, of the Jamestown (N. Y.) Morning Post, Jamestown Pest. has resigned, and Mr. E. L. Allen, an executive officer of the Post Publishing Company, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. Henry L. Stoddard, of the New York City Mail and Express New York has surrendered his certificate, with notice that the name of his paper Evening Mail. has been changed to The Evening Mail. A new certificate has been

issued.

Mr. William H. Hollister, Jr., of the Troy (N. Y.) Record, has resigned, and Mr. D. B. Plum, an executive officer of the Troy Record Company, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. J. A. Linn, of the Springfield (Ohio) Press-Republic, has resigned, and Mr. W. M. Miller, an executive officer of the Press-Republic Company, the present owner, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. John T. Lighter, of the Astoria (Ore.) Morning Astorian, has resigned, and Mr. Samuel Elmore, an executive officer of the Astoria Publishing Company, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. Charles W. Hill, of the Baker City (Ore.) Evening Herald, has resigned, and Mr. W. J. Lachner, a partner of the firm of Lachner & Roe, the present owners, has succeeded him in membership. A new certificate has been issued.

Mr. Henry T. Clauder, of the Bethlehem (Pa.) Times, has resigned, and Mr. L. J. Heller, an executive officer of the Times Publishing Company, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. H. R. Whitcraft, of the Wilkes Barre (Pa.) Evening Leader, has resigned, and Mr. F. C. Kirkendall, an executive officer of the Leader Publishing Company, has succeeded him in membership. Mr. Kirkendall has given notice of a desire to withdraw from membership at the end of six months from June 1, 1904.

Mr. Charles M. Rein, of the Orange (Tex.) Tribune, has resigned and Mr. Charles D. Dickensheets, a partner of the firm of Dickensheets & Foster, the present owners, has succeeded him in membership. A new certificate has been issued.

Mr. Frank Francis, of the Ogden (Utah) Examiner, has resigned, and Mr. F. W. Chambers, an executive officer of the Standard Publishing Company, the present owners, has succeeded him in member.. ship.

Mr. John Wood, of the Bristol (Va.) Herald, has resigned, and Mr. Alexander Forward, an executive officer of the Bristol Publishing Corporation, has succeeded him in membership.

Mr. A. H. Grandy, of the Norfolk (Va.) Virginian-Pilot, has died, and Mr. Hugh C. Davis, an executive officer of the VirginianPilot Publishing Company, has succeeded him in membership. The $125 bond standing in Mr. A. H. Grandy's name has been cancelled and reissued to Mr. Hugh C. Davis.

Mr. J. C. Martin, of the Prescott (Ariz.) Miner, desires to be permitted to withdraw, owing to inability to meet assessments.

Mr. F. B. Dorr, of the Douglas (Ariz.) Dispatch, desires to be permitted to withdraw, owing to inability to meet assessments.

Mr. Frank F. Peard, of the Baltimore (Md.) Morning Herald, desires to be permitted to withdraw, owing to discontinuance of publication.

Mr. J. P. Caldwell, of the Charlotte (N. C.) Chronicle, desires to

be permitted to withdraw, having given the six months' notice re- [Sept. 20, 1904.] quired by the By-Laws.
