III. And Whereas in and by the faid recited Act made in the • Fourteenth and Fifteenth Years of the Reign of His faid late Majefty Charles the Second, it is amongst other things enacted, that the Sub Commiffioners as therein mentioned fhall be authorized upon any Complaint or Information to proceed to Examination of the Matter of Fact by fummoning or caufing Parties and Witneffes to be summoned to appear before them by caufing Summonfes in Writing under the Hand of the lerk or other Officer thereunto appointed, to be left at the ufual Place of Abode or Habitation of fuch Party or Witnefs: And Whereas it is expedient to provide for the more eafy and convenient iffuing of fuch Summons or Notice;' Be it therefore enacted, That it fhall and may be lawful to and for the Collector of Customs or Excife, or any Person fioners may iffue appointed by fuch Collectors refpectively, or to and for any Sub Commiffioner of the refpective Districts, to fign and iffue any Notice or Summons to Parties and Witneffes to appear on the Trial of any on Trials of In- Complaint or Information exhibited in fuch Diftrict, and every such Notice or Summons which fhall be fo figned and iffued fhall be as good, valid and effectual to all Intents and Purposes as if the fame had been iffued pursuant to the Directions and Provifions of the faid recited Act of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Years of the Reign of His faid late Majefty King Charles the Second, any Thing in the faid Act to the contrary notwithstanding; and in cafe any Perfon who shall be duly fummoned to be a Witness as aforefaid shall neglect to appear without reasonable Excufe for fuch Neglect, or appearing fhall refufe to give his, her or their Teftimony concerning the Matter in Question, every fuch Perfon for every fuch Neglect or Refusal fhall forfeit the Sum of Twenty Pounds.

IV. And be it further enacted, That whenever any Goods, Wares and Merchandize shall be seized after the landing thereof in Ireland, for any Offence against any Act or Acts in force in Ireland, relating to any Matters and Things under the Management of the Commiffioners of Customs and Port Duties, it fhall and may be lawful for the Confignee or Confignees thereof to claim fuch Goods, Wares and Merchandize on behalf of the Owner or Owners thereof, fuch Confignee or Confignees making an Affidavit before the Officer empowered to receive fuch Claim of the Name or Names, Place or Places of Abode of the real Owner or Owners of fuch Goods, Wares and Merchandize, and also giving Security by Bond to His Majefty, with Two fufficient Sureties to be previously approved of by the faid Commiffioners of Cuftoms and Port Duties, or by the Collector or other Principal Officer of the Customs for the District within which fuch Claim shall be entered, in the Penalty of One hundred Pounds, or fuch further Sum not exceeding Three hundred Pounds, as fhall be reasonably deemed fufficient by such Commiffioners, Collector or

other Officers, to answer and pay the Cofts which may be occafioned by fuch Claim, in cafe of the Condemnation of fuch Goods, Wares or Merchandize, fuch Cofts to be taxed by the Chief Remembrancer of the Court of Exchequer or his Deputy; any thing in the before mentioned Act of the Forty fixth Year of His prefent Majefty's 46 G. 3. c. 106. Reign, or any Act or Acts in force in Ireland to the contrary thereof notwithstanding.

'V. And Whereas under and by virtue of the feveral Acts in Penalties to be 'force in Ireland, relating to the Revenues, Matters and Things ' under the Management of the faid Commiffioners of Cuftoms and Port Duties, and of the faid Commiffioners of Inland Excife and 'Taxes refpectively, the feveral pecuniary Fines, Penalties and Forfeitures inflicted or impofed by the faid Acts are directed to be payable and to be paid and received in British Currency;' Be it further enacted, That in fuing for any fuch Fine, Penalty or Forfei ture, it fhall not be necessary to specify, mention or set forth in the Complaint or Information, or in any Judgment given thereon, or in any Warrant to be iffued founded upon fuch Judgment, the Currency in which fuch Fine, Penalty or Forfeiture fhall be paid or receivable, but every fuch Fine, Penalty and Forfeiture shall be levied, recovered and paid, according to the Amount thereof in British Currency.

VI. And be it further enacted, That any Goods, Wares or Merchandize which may have been or may be warehoufed or otherwife fecured without Payment of Duty in Ireland, may be permitted and allowed to remain warehoused or otherwife fecured beyond the Period now allowed by Law for clearing and taking the fame from and out of Warehouse; and that the Period for which any Goods, Wares or Merchandize are allowed by Law to be bonded or warehoused in Ireland, may be extended in like manner and under like Regulations in Ireland, as are directed and required with refpect to Goods warehoufed in Great Britain, by an Act made in the Forty ninth Year of 49 G. 3. c. 106. His prefent Majefty's Reign, intituled An Ad for allowing further

time for taking Goods out of Warehouse and paying Duties thereon.

VII. And be it further enacted, That all Penalties and Forfeitures Penalties to be under this A&t fhall be paid and payable in Britisk Currency, and levied in British hall be raised, levied, collected, paid, fued for, recovered and applied Currency. in fuch manner and under fuch Powers and Authorities, and by fach Ways and Methods, and according to fuch Rules and Directions, as are appointed, directed and expreffed for the recovering of any Penalties or Forfeitures in and by the faid recited Act made in Ireland in the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Years of the Reign of His late Majefty King Charles the Second, or in and by the faid recited Act made in the Forty fixth Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, or in and by any other Act or Acts in force in Ireland, relating to the Revenue of Cuftoms and Excife, or either of them, as fully and effectually to all Intents and Purposes as if the fame were herein repeated and reenacted, with the like remedy of Appeal to and for the Party or Parties aggrieved as in and by the faid recited Act of the Fourteenth and Fifteenth Years of the Reign of His late Majefty King Charles the Second, or any other Act or Acts as aforefaid, is provided.

VIII. And be it further enacted, That this Act may be altered, amended or repealed by any A&t or Acts to be made in this prefent Seffion of Parliament.

III. VI. An Act to revive and continue, until Two Years after the
Expiration of the Restrictions upon Payments in Cafh by n
the Bank of England, an Act for fufpending the Operation
of an Act of the Seventeenth Year of His prefent Majefty,
for restraining the Negociation of Promiffory Notes and Bills
of Exchange under a limited Sum, in England.

WE

[11th April 1816.] HEREAS an Act was paffed in the Seventeenth Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, for reftraining for a limited time the Negociation of Promiflory Notes and Inland Bills of Exchange for Twenty Shillings and under Five Pounds: And • Whereas the faid A&t was, by an Act paffed in the Twenty feventh Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, made perpetual: And Whereas by an Act paffed in the Thirty feventh Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, the faid first recited A&t, so far as the fame relates to the making void of Promiffory Notes, Drafts or Undertakings in Writing, payable on Demand to the Bearer thereof, for any Sum lefs than the Sum of Five Pounds in the whole, and also to the reftraining the publishing or uttering and negociating of any fuch Notes, Drafts or Undertakings as aforefaid, was fufpended until the First Day of May then next: And Whereas the said A&t of the Thirty feventh Year of the Reign of His prefent Majefty hath by several subsequent Acts been continued until the Twenty fifth Day of March One thoufand eight hundred and fixteen, and < amended; and it is expedient that the fame fhould be revived and further continued;' Be it therefore enacted by the King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That the Act of the Thirty seventh Year aforefaid, fo far as the fame fufpends the faid Act of the Seventeenth Year aforefaid, fhall be and the fame is hereby revived from and after the said Twenty fifth Day of March One thoufand eight hundred and fixteen, and fhall be further continued, as amended, from the faid Twenty fifth Day of March One thousand eight hundred and fixteen, until Two Years after the Expiration of the Restriction upon Payments in Cash by the Bank of England.

WHEREAS it is neceffary for the Prefervation of the

Tranquillity of Europe, and for the general Safety, that Napoleon Buonaparté fhould be detained and kept in Cuftody as is hereinafter provided:' Be it therefore enacted; and it is hereby enacted by The King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the Advice and Confent of the Lords Spiritual and Temporal, and Commons, in this prefent Parliament affembled, and by the Authority of the fame, That it fhall and may be lawful for His Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, to detain and keep the faid Napoleon Buonaparte in the Cuftody of fuch Perfon or Perfons, in fuch Place within His
