An Act to provide for the Safe-keeping of the Acts, Records, and Seal of the United States, and for other Purposes.

Sec. 2. And be it further enacted, That whenever a bill, order, refolution or vote of the SeAdditional nate and Houfe of Reprefentatives, having been figned the approved and figned by the Prefident of the fecretary of United States, or not having been returned by him with his objections, fhall become a law, or take effect, it fhall forthwith thereafter be received by the faid Secretary from the Prefident: and whenever a bill, order, refolution or vote, fhall be returned by the Prefident with his objections, and fhall, on being recónfidered, be agreed to be paffed, and be approved by twothirds of both Houfes of Congrefs, and thereby become a law or take effect, it fhall, in fuch cafe, be received by the faid Secretary from the Prefident of the Senate, or the Speaker of the Houfe of Representatives, in whichfoever House it shall last have been fo approved; and the faid Secretary fhall, as foon as conveniently may be, after he fhall receive the fame, caufe every fuch law, order, refolution, and vote, to be published in at least three of the public newspapers printed within the United States, and shall also cause one printed copy to be delivered to each Senator and Representative of the United States, and two printed copies duly authenticated to be fent to the executive authority of each state; and he shall carefully preferve the originals, and fhall cause the fame to be recorded in books to be provided for the purpose.

Sec. 3. And be it further enacted, That the Seal of the feal heretofore used by the United States in Congrefs affembled, fhall be and hereby is de clared to be the feal of the United States.

Sec. 4.
