DEAR SIR: In January 1933 State troops were used for patrolling the levees in Dunklin County, and I have the impression that they were used also at a later date during 1933.

We would like to know if the troops were used for patrolling all of the levees in Dunklin County along the St. Francis River, or whether only portions of the levee were patrolled. If only portions of the levee were patrolled, we would like to know which portions were patrolled.

We need this information in connection with the consideration of applications for loans in your county. If you are unable to give this information, I would appreciate it if you will inform me as to whom I should write for it. Yours very truly, W. A. KELLY, Engineer Appraiser.

Mr. LANGDON JONES,

Kennett, Mo.

PIGGOTT LAND CO., Piggott, Ark., March 26, 1935.

DEAR SIR: We herewith enclose a report on the floods caused by breaks in the St. Francis River levee for the years 1933 and 1935, respectively. These reports refer only to all lands located in Clay County, Ark., and included in the St. Francis Drainage District, of Clay and Greene Counties, Ark.

We were very careful to check with the Government engineers on dimensions as to the breaks, lands overflowed, etc.

If there is any other information you need, please advise us.

Judge Kirsch, of Paragould, has offered to go to Washington, our drainage district paying his expenses. I think he will make us a good man. In addition, I think Mr. Ollie Bearden, of Rector, and myself, will also go to Washington, if necessary.

If possible, keep us posted on the dates so we won't have to waste much time in Washington.

Respectfully yours,

PAUL M. PFEIFFER,

Member of St. Francis Levee District, Clay and Greene Counties, Ark.

PIGGOTT, ARK., March 26, 1935.
