CHAPTER VI. ELECTION DISTRICTS OF THE STATE. No change was made in the direction of the Ballot Reform Law this year that election districts shall not contain more than 400 voters. The election districts were redivided last year to comply with that statute, and there will be few changes therefore in election districts this year except in the growing portion of the cities of New York, Brooklyn, Buffalo and other cities. The total number of election districts in the State in each county at the time of the election of 1891 was as follows: Albany 147 Allegany 46 Broome.. 68 Cattaraugus.. 60 Cayuga ... 60 Chautauqua. 81 Chemung 38 Chenango.. 43 Clinton 36 Columbia 46 Cortland... 29 Delaware 50 Dutchess 68 Erie... 180 Essex 35 Franklin... THE STATE VOTE THE LAST TWO PRESIDENTIAL ELECTIONS. The vote of New York State, one of the "pivotal” States, in the years 1884 and 1888, presidential years, will undoubtedly be analyzed closely county by county, owing to the approach of another election for President the present year 1892. The election statistics of 1884 and of 1888 are of great interest. The record for 1884 was as follows: COUNTIES WON BY BLAINE, 1884, NORTH OF THE HARLEM RIVER. COUNTIES. Blaine. Cleveland.
