CHAP. 3.—AN ACT to extend the January term of the General
Court, and for other purposes.

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Term extend the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the present January term of the General Court shall be extended to twenty-four juridical days: Provided however, That the said court may adjourn over for any number of days which the business before them will permit, without producing an end of said term; and whenever the judge or judges shall attend, he or they may cause the court to be opened and proceed to business as though no interruption had taken place.

SEC. 2. SEC. 3. Be it further enacted, That the auditor of public accounts shall receive all delinquent lists. of sheriffs and other public officers until the twentieth day of January, instant, any law to the contrary notwithstanding.

CHAP. 4. AN ACT to repeal an act entitled, "an act to enlarge the Constables district including the town of Bowlinggreenapproved, November 11th, 1825."

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That an act entitled, "an act to enlarge the Constable's district, including the town of Bowlinggreen, approved, November 11th, 1825," be, and the same is hereby repealed.

CHAP. 5.—AN ACT to reduce the number of Magistrates in
Muhlenburg county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That it shall not be lawful for the county court of Muhlenburg to nominate for appointment, persons to fill the office of justice of the peace, in case of vacancies, accruing by death, resignation, removal or otherwise, until the whole number of magistrates in said county, shall be reduced to thirteen in number; and that hereafter, the number of justices of the peace in said county, shall be thirteen, instead of nineteen, as now provided for by law.

CHAP. 6. AN ACT to change the place of voting in the upper election precinct in Monroe county.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the place of voting in an election precinct in Monroe county, be, and the same is hereby changed from the house of William C. Trice, to the Cave spring.

CHAP. 7-AN ACT to allow three additional terms to the Boone
County Court.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That three additional terms be allowed to the county court of Boone; and the justices of the peace of said county, are hereby authorized to hold them on the first Mondays in the months of May, August and November, in each and every year, and continue from day to day until the business thereof shall be concluded.

CHAP. 8.-AN ACT to enable the Clerk of the General Court to renew his official bond.

Whereas, in consequence of ill health, the clerk of the General Court was unable to renew his office

bond, at the last term of that court, when, according to law, it ought to have been done; Therefore,

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the clerk of the general court be authorized to renew the said bond, at the coming and next term of that court, and that he be exonerated from the penalties incurred, in consequence of the failure, to make the renewal at the time appointed by law.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That this act shall take effect from its passage.

CHAP. 9.-AN ACT to alter the limits of the Town of Cadiz.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That all the addition of Poston's ad- Richard Poston, to the town of Cadiz, be, and the stricken off, same is hereby stricken off from said town, and shall hereafter be without the jurisdiction of the trustees thereof; and that Matthew Mayes be invested with the title to all the streets passing through the lots owned by him in said addition, and one half in width of those streets adjoining the lots owned by him as aforesaid, so far as said streets bind on said lots. That Philemon C. Frazier be invested with the title to all the streets passing through the lots owned by him in said addition, and also with the title to Spring street, so far as said street binds on his lots, and also with the title to one half in width of all other streets binding on his said lots, so far as said lots extend along said streets; and that James N. Twyman be invested with the title to one half in width of those streets on which his lots bind, so far as said streets bind on his said lots. That Joseph D. Sheridan be invested with the title to one half in width of the streets binding on the lots owned by him in said addition, so far as the said streets bind on his lots; and that Richard Poston be invested with the title to one half in width of the streets binding on the lots owned by him in said addition, so far as said streets bind on his said lots.

CHAP. 10-AN ACT to authorize the editor of the Russellville

Advertiser to publish advertisements.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the editor of the Russellville Advertiser, is hereby authorized to publish all advertisements, which are authorized or required by law, except such, as are required by law to be pub lished in the paper of the public printer, exclusively; and all publications and advertisements, made in said paper, shall be as good and valid, as if made in any authorized newspaper printed in this state; and it shall be lawful for the editor of said paper, to make such certificates, and charge such fees, as are authorized to be made and charged, in any other newspaper in this Commonwealth.

CHAP. 11.-AN ACT to alter the time of holding the Harrison
County Court

Whereas, great inconvenience is felt by the citi zens of Harrison county,owing to the Bourbon, Harrison and Pendleton county courts being held on the first Monday in each month; For remedy whereof,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That from and after the first day of February next, the county court of Harrison. county, shall be held on the second Monday in each month, instead of the first Monday, as heretofore.. Approved, January 9, 1836.

C. 12.-AN ACT to authorize the County Court of Montgomery to allow Joseph Bondurant to cut a passage for his stock under the old Iron Works road.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Com-monwealth of Kentucky, That the county court of Montgomery, be, and it is hereby authorized and empowered, by its order, to allow Joseph Bondurant to cut a passage for his stock, from one part of his farm: to the other, under and across the old Iron Works road, in the said county of Montgomery; said courtrequiring the same to be done in such manner as not to obstruct the travel on said road, and requiring

said Bondurant perpetually to keep said road in good repair, at the point where said passage may cross it; and said county court of Montgomery county shall have the power, always, to cause said passage to be stopped and filled, if it should form any considerable obstruction to the travel of said road, either from the manner of its construction, or the order in which it may be kept up.

CHAP. 13.-AN ACT to legalize the proceedings of the Trustees of the town of Nicholasville.

Whereas, the trustees of the town of Nicholasville, did heretofore subscribe for stock in the Danville Lancaster, and Nicholasville Turnpike Road Company; and whereas, doubts are entertained whether they were authorized so to do; For remedy whereof,

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Subscriptions the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That any subscriplegalized. tion heretofore made, or may hereafter be made by the said trustees of the town of Nicholasville, to the capital stock of the said turnpike road company, be and the same is hereby legalized, and made as binding and of as good effect as if specially authorized so to do in the charter of said company.

Trustees may levy a tax on real estate.

SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That it shall and may be lawful for the chairman and board of trustees of the said town of Nicholasville, to assess, levy and collect, a tax upon all the real and personal estate within the limits of said town of Nicholasville, to be appropriated towards the payment of the calls that may be made upon the stock heretofore subscribed, or may hereafter be subscribed by the trustees of the town of Nicholasville, to the stock of the said turnpike road company, as well as for other pur

poses.
