Distribution of Circulars and Forms.

The number of precautionary and hygienic circulars in pamphlet forms sent out during the year has been 53,795.

The number of boxes of circulars sent out during the year, each box containing from twenty-five to thirty circulars, has been 130.

The number of packages of documents for the information of local boards sent out during the year, each package containing forty-nine documents, has been 42.

The number of packages of stationery sent out during the year to county medical inspectors, deputy inspectors, members of the Board, etc., has been thirty-seven.

The number of packages sent out during the year has been 438.

Correspondence.

The number of written communications sent out during the year has been 2,901.

The number of written communications received during the year has been 2,754.

The number of mimeographed letters sent out during the year has been 1,890.

Additions to Library.

The additions to the library during the past year have been, of books, 54; pamphlets, 52.

Preparation of Printed Forms and Circulars.

The following printed forms and circulars have been issued dur ing the year:

Circular No. 51, "Precautions Against Yellow Fever."

Mimeographed Letters and Circulars.

Mimeographed letters and circulars have been issued on the following subjects:

Resolution calling attention to the act passed by the Legislature of 1893 requiring boards of health in boroughs.

Communication to the pollutors of the Schuylkill river and canal within the borders of Berks, Chester and Montgomery counties.

Water Analyses.

Eleven samples of water were submitted to the Laboratory of Hygiene for chemical analysis since November 1, 1897. The accompanying table presents the data in full, with regard to each of the samples.
