Herald's guide covers nearly 1,400 titles and authors for the genres of historical novels, science fiction, fantasy, mystery, suspense, horror, adventure, sports, romance, and contemporary novels. Several subgenres are included; as for example, those listed under problem novels in the contemporary section. Titles cover the topics of death, suicide, self-destruction, mental illness, pregnancy, teen parents, incest, physical challenges, and missing-teen syndrome.
