SHOSHONE PROJECT WILDWOOD DIVISION Mr. LEAVY. Shoshone project, Wildwood division. Mr. PAGE. The Wildwood division is a division which is under cultivation. It is a part of the old project near Cody, Wyo., on which money is required for the extension of drains and things of that kind. Ten thousand dollars is all that is required for this year, and will carry on the program that we contemplate there. Mr. LEAVY. That amount you say will carry on your program? Mr. PAGE. Yes; it will carry on the program. It will not absolutely complete it, because a drainage program is, in part, a continuous program. SHOSHONE PROJECT, HEART MOUNTAIN DIVISION Mr. LEAVY. The next is Heart Mountain division, Shoshone project. Mr. PAGE. The Heart Mountain division, now in construction, is another and new unit of the Shoshone project. There are four units in the Shoshone project. Mr. LEAVY. Is this for the enlargement of an existing project, Mr. Page? Mr. PAGE. It is for a new unit, an additional area adjacent to the other areas which have heretofore been irrigated. Mr. LEAVY. Is this sum that you are asking for adequate to complete your work? Mr. PAGE. No. It lacks very much of completing it. The total cost will be about $6,500,000, and it will require $3,800,000 to complete the job after this year's appropriation of $700,000. The construction of the Heart Mountain division has only recently been undertaken. HYDROELECTRIC DEVELOPMENT Mr. LEAVY. Does it involve hydroelectric development? Mr. PAGE. Not this work in itself. There is an hydroelectric development at the Shoshone Dam, which is the storage dam for this project. Mr. LEAVY. Is that not one of your largest developed hydroelectric projects where you have irrigation? Mr. PAGE. No; it is not one of the largest, but it is a very substantial development. It has an installed capacity of 8,200 horse power. Mr. LEAVY. What is done with that power? Mr. PAGE. It is sold almost entirely to the local communities, and to the Mountain States Power Co. Power also is being sold to the contractor engaged in construction of the Heart Mountain division tunnels. Mr. LEAVY. At what rate do you sell it? Mr. PAGE. There are various schedules of rates, depending upon the kind of power used. Mr. LEAVY. Is there any distinction between your sales to a city, town, or municipal corporation and those sales which you make to the power company? Mr. PAGE. No. The Shoshone rates have been established primarily on the basis of the value of power in that area. The municipalities and other public agencies have one advantage in rates; we sell larger quantities for a lesser base price. Mr. LEAVY. You have a table there showing what your schedule of prices is? POWER PLANTS OPERATED ON RECLAMATION PROJECTS Mr. PAGE. We have a table projects and the range of rates. here which shows all of our power Of course, each project has a variety of contracts for power, depending upon the size of the demand and the facilities which are furnished. I will insert for the record two tables of power operations. Project Power plants operated on Bureau of Reclamation projects during fiscal year 1935-36 Pilot Butte.
