An Act to incorporate the Franklin Land Company.

1. BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of Corporators. the State of New Jersey, That Thomas Wilson, Charles M. Morris, Sanderson R. Martin, James P. Dunlap and John R. Cann, and such others as they or a majority of them shall associate with them, and their successors, are hereby declared to be a body politic and corporate, under the name

privileges given to the "West Jersey Cranberry Land and
Improvement Company," in an act to incorporate the same,
approved February twenty-sixth, eighteen hundred and sixty-
six, are hereby extended to the Franklin Land Company.
2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect imme-
diately.

CHAPTER DXLIV.

A Further Supplement to an act entitled "An Act to provide for the drainage of certain low lands lying in the city of Hoboken and the township of Weehawken."

WHEREAS, in carrying out the intention of said act, the board of commissioners are forced to keep an outlet for the water across the lands of the Morris and Essex Railroad Company, and the building of the proper drain boxes can only be done from time to time as the said lands may be filled in by said railroad company, and no contract can be made with any other parties for building the same; and an arrangement having been agreed upon between the said commissioners and the Morris and Essex Railroad Company securing the right of discharge for said water and the building of said drain boxes and maintenance of sluices upon fair and equitable terms; therefore,

1. BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of the State of New Jersey, That the agreement entered into between the said board of commissioners and the Morris and Essex Railroad Company is hereby validated, and made as effectual to all intents and purposes as if the same had been made under the provisions of the act to which this is a supple

ment.

2. And be it enacted, That all acts and parts of acts inconsistent herewith, be, and the same are hereby repealed,

and this act shall be deemed a public act, and take effect immediately.

CHAPTER DXLV.

A Further Supplement to the charter of the city of Cape
Island.

WHEREAS, Richard T. Miller was appointed a commissioner Preamble. of deeds for the city of Cape Island; and whereas, at the time of said appointment the said city was entitled to only two commissioners; therefore,

BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of Legalizing the State of New Jersey, That the several acknowledgments deeds. and proofs of deeds and other instruments of writing taken and certified by the said Richard T. Miller be and the same are hereby confirmed and declared legal and effectual.

An Act to change the name of the Reformed Dutch Church. of Clintonville.

CHAPTER DXLVII.

An Act relative to roads in the Township of Franklin.

1. BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of tricts to keep the State of New Jersey, That from and after the passage of this act, each school district of the township of Franklin, in the county of Gloucester in this state, shall have exclusive charge of, and shall make, maintain and keep in repair the roads and highways within their respective limits, in the same manner, to the extent of each district respectively as the said township now has charge of, and is authorized and required to make, maintain and keep in repair the roads and highways within its limits.

Election of overseers of highways.

2. And be it enacted, That on the first Wednesday after town meeting in each year, the inhabitants of each school district shall meet at one o'clock in the afternoon at the school house in their respective districts, and shall proceed in the usual manner of election of overseers of the highway and town meetings in said township, to elect overseers of the highways for said school district; and the overseers so elected shall, within the limits of said school district for which they were elected, and in and for the same have the same powers, and shall perform the same duties, and be subject to the same restrictions, obligations and penalties as overseers of the highways of the said township of Franklin now have, perform or are subject to, within, in and for said township; and the means of making, maintaining and keeping in repair the said roads and highways within the said school districts respectively, shall be provided in the same manner within the limits thereof, as such means are now provided in the said township for the making, maintaining and keeping in repair, the roads and highways thereof; and the inhabitants of each district so assembled as aforesaid, on the first Monday after town meeting

shall have the same powers and authority in all respects, in relation to the said roads and highways within such district, and the voting and raising money for the making and maintaining and repairing the same, as the inhabitants of the said township now have in relation to the roads and highways therein when assembled in town meeting; and they and their property shall be in all respects liable for the same in like manner as the inhabitants of the said township and their property are now liable in respect of the roads therein.

3. And be it enacted, That all acts and parts of acts in- Repealer. consistent with the provisions of this act so far as the same conflict with the provisions of this act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

CHAPTER DXLVIII.

An Act relating to Overseers of the roads in the township of
Belleville, Essex county.

1. BE IT ENACTED by the Senate and General Assembly of Overseers to the State of New Jersey, That the overseers of the several sive bonds. road districts in the township of Belleville be required, before they enter on their duties as overseers, to give bonds to the township committee of said township, in such sum as said committee may require, for the faithful performance of their duties, and to account to said committee for all moneys by them received for the making and repairing of said roads.

2. And be it enacted, That this act shall be a public act, and take effect immediately.
