PREFACE.

This supplement to the pocket edition of the codes contains the amendments of 1891 and 1893, all general laws passed at those sessions, and all special laws of gen eral interest. In addition, notes of California decisions from volume 65 to volume 96 inclusive have been ap pended to the sections upon which they bear. The same general plan of arrangement pursued in Deering's Anno tated Codes and Statutes has been adopted.

Political Code.

7. Estoppel of one exercising functions of office abolished
by statute: 73 Cal. 486.

10. What are holidays. Holidays, within the mean-
ing of this code, are every Sunday, the first day of Janu-
ary, the twenty-second day of February, the thirtieth
day of May, the fourth day of July, the ninth day of Sep-
tember, the first Monday of October, the twenty-fifth day
of December, every day on which an election is held
throughout the state, and every day appointed by the Presi
dent of the United States, or by the governor of this state,
for a public fast, thanksgiving, or holiday. If the first
day of January, the twenty-second day of February, the
thirtieth day of May, the fourth day of July, the ninth
day of September, or the twenty-fifth day of December
fall upon a Sunday, the Monday following is a holiday.

18. This section repeals revenue act of May 17, 1891: 70
Cal. 504; but the possessory act of April 20, 1852, is not within
its provisions: 74 Cal. 508.
