IV. And be it further enacted, That the several Accounts fo taken in Writing by the Perfons fo appointed as aforefaid, for the Purpose of preparing the aforefaid Anfwers and Returns, and alfo the faid Peace, &c. who Anfwers and Returns prepared thereupon, shall be safely delivered or tranfmitted by them to the feveral Clerks of the Peace and Town Clerks of the Counties, Counties of Cities and Counties of Towns, of Chief Secre- wherein they were refpectively appointed; which faid Clerks of the Peace and Town Clerks are hereby authorized and required fafely to keep and preserve the faid Accounts in their respective Offices, and to deliver them over to their Succeffors in Office respectively; and that the faid Clerks of the Peace and Town Clerks fhall, on or before the Twentieth Day of June One thousand eight hundred and thirteen, tranfmit with all convenient Speed such Answers and Returns as they fhall have received in manner aforefaid (together with a Lift of the Parishes within the Counties of Cities and Counties of Towns, and of the Baronies and Half Baronies within the other Counties refpectively, from whence no Returns have been made to them) to the Office of His Majefty's Chief Secretary for Ireland; and the fame fhall be digefted and reduced into Order by fuch Officer as fuch Secretary fhall appoint for the Purpofe, and that an Abstract thereof fhall be laid before both Houfes of Parliament within the first Forty Days of the Seffion then next enfuing.

V. And be it further enacted, That in all cafes where no Return shall have been made, or where there fhall appear, on Examination at the Chief Secretary's Office, good Reafon to believe that the Returns made have been defective or inaccurate, the faid Chief Secretary is hereby empowered and directed to caufe a Lift of fuch Parishes, Baronics and Half Baronies, from which no Returns or defective or inaccurate Returns have been received, to be tranfmitted to the Grand Jury of fuch County wherein the faid Parishes, Baronies or Half Baronies are refpectively fituated, with Directions that they fhall forthwith proceed to caufe due Returns to be made therein, under fuch Provifions and with like Powers as have been given to the Grand Juries by the aforefaid Ena&ments.

VI. And be it further enacted, That there fhall be paid and alPerfons employ- lowed for the Trouble and Expence of the feveral Perfons employed ed in Execution in the Tranfactions aforefaid, for every Return which fhall be fo made and tranfmitted to the Clerks of the Peace and Town Clerks refpectively, pursuant to the Directions aforefaid, the Sums following; videlicet, To the Clerk of the Peace or Town Clerk, for every Return which fhall be made from every fuch Parish, Barony or Half Barony, the Sum of One Shilling, and to the feveral Houfcholders

VII. And be it further enacted, That it fhall and may be lawful Grand Juries for the Grand Juries of the feveral Counties, Counties of Cities and empowered to Counties of Towns in Ireland, to prefent fuch Sum or Sums of Money prefent fuch as they may deem reasonable Payment pursuant to the Provifions of this Act, for the Services hereinbefore recited, to be raised and levied together and in like manner with the other County Charges, and paid over to the Perfons thereunto entitled, upon Proof made to the Satisfaction of fuch Grand Jury, by the Oaths of the Perfons refpectively employed, that they have faithfully performed the Duties enjoined them by this Act; fuch Prefentment being always fubmitted to the Infpection and Fiat of the Judge of Affize, in like manner with other Prefentments.

VIII. And be it further enacted, That every fuch Clerk of the Making false Peace, Town Clerk, High Conftable or other fuch Officer as afore- Returns. faid, and alfo every such Householder or other Perfon fo appointed as aforefaid, making wilful Default in any of the Matters required of them refpectively by this Act, fhall, for every fuch wilful Default, forfeit a Sum not exceeding Five Pounds nor lefs than Forty Shillings, Penalty. at the Discretion of the Juftice or Juftices before whom Complaint Signing, &c. thereof shall be made; and in cafe of any of the Householders or Perfons appointed to make fuch Returns fhall by his Signature atteft any Return as aforefaid, knowing the fame to be falfe, fuch Perfon fo attefting the fame, and being convicted thereof, fhall incur and be fubject to like Penalties as if he had been guilty of Perjury, by at- Perjury. tefting fuch falfe Return on Oath before a Magiftrate.

IX. And be it further enacted, That the Court of King's Bench, Judges to give and all and every Judge and Judges of Affize and General Gaol De- Act in Charge livery in Ireland refpectively, are hereby directed and required, from time to time, as Occafion fhall require, to give this A&t in Charge to the Grand Juries of the feveral Counties and Cities in Ireland, and to require them to comply therewith as the Law directs; and for that Purpofe to defire the faid Grand Juries to felect and appoint on the First Day of the Affizes, iramediately after they fhall have been fworn, a Committee of their Body, confifting of not more than Five, nor less than Three, to carry the Provifions of this Act into Effect. X. And be it further enacted, That each and every of the faid Grand Juries within Counties of Cities and Counties of Towns fhall prefent the Lift of Householders fo felected by them as herein required, to the Judge of Aflize, together with their other Prefentments, for his Fiat of Approbation; which Lift, fo approved, fhall be deemed thenceforth competent to the Purposes of this Act.

5th. How many Perfons (including Children of whatever Age) are there actually found within the Limits of your Parish, Barony or Half Barony, at the time of taking this Account; diftinguifhing Males and Females, and exclufive of Men actually ferving in His Majefty's Regular Forces or in the Militia, and exclufive of Seamen either in His Majesty's Service, or belonging to Registered Veffels?

6th. How many of the whole Number of Perfons mentioned by you in Answer to the 5th Queftion, are Inhabitants of any City, Town or Village; diftinguishing the Number which are found in each City, Town or Village refpectively?

An Act for the better Regulation of the Butter Trade in Ire-
land.

HEREAS an A&t was passed in the Parliament of Ireland
in the Tenth Year of the Reign of His late Majefty King
William the Third, intituled An Ad for reforming Abufes in making
"Butter Cafks, and preventing of falfe packing of Butter: And whereas
one other Act was paffed in the Parliament of Ireland in the Sixth
Year of the Reign of Her late Majesty Queen Anne, intituled An
A& for the continuing and perpetuating of divers Laws and Statutes
theretofore temporary, and for amending of the Law in relation to
Butter Cafks: And whereas one other Act was paffed in the Par
liament of Ireland in the Second Year of the Reign of His late
Majefty King George the Firft, among other things, for the more
effectual Amendment of the Law in relation to Butter and Tallow
Cafks: And whereas one other Act was paffed in the Parliament
of Ireland in the Fourth Year of the Reign of His faid Majefly
King George the Firft, for repealing Part of a Claufe in the faid lat
recited Act made in the Second Year of His Majefty's Reign, by
which the Dimenfions of Butter Casks are afcertained, and for ex-
plaining and further amending the Law in relation to Butter Cafks:
And whereas an Act was paffed in the Parliament of Ireland in
the Tenth Year of His late Majefty King George the First, among
other things, for continuing and amending of the Laws in relation
to Butter and Tallow, and the Cafks in which such Goods are to be
made up; which faid Act was explained and amended by another
A&t made in the Parliament of Ireland in the Twelfth Year of the
faid late King George the First, and alfo by another A&t made in
the Parliament of Ireland in the Thirteenth Year of His late
Majefty King George the Second, and which faid Acts were
amended and further continued by feveral A&ts to the End of the
Seflion of Parliament in the Twenty first Year of His faid late
Majefty King George the Second; and by an Act made in the Par
liament of Ireland in the faid Twenty first Year of His faid late
Majefty King George the Second, the faid Acts were amended, and
were further continued to the Twenty ninth Day of September in
the Year One thousand feven hundred and fixty nine, and from
thence to the End of the then next Seffion of Parliament; and by
another Act paffed in the Parliament of Ireland in the Fifth Year
of the Reign of His prefent Majefty, among other things, for
continuing, reviving and amending feveral temporary Statutes the
faid recited Acts or fome or one of them were further continued, fo
far as related to Butter and Tallow, and the Cafks in which fuch
Goods are to be made up, with feveral Alterations and Amend-
ments: And whereas one other Act was paffed in the Parliament of
• Ireland in the Nineteenth and Twentieth Years of the Reign of His
prefent Majefty King George the Third, among other things for
regulating the curing and preparing Provifions, and for preventing
Combinations among the feveral Tradefmen and other Perfons em-
ployed in making up fuch Provifions, and for regulating the Butter
Trade in the City of Dublin: And whereas by an Act paffed in the
Parliament of Ireland in the Thirty first Year of the Reign of His
