to his Majesty's fubjects; be it therefore enacted by the King's most excellent majefty, by and with the advice and consent of the lords fpiritual and temporal, and commons, in this prefent No corn, or parliament affembled, and by the authority of the fame, That grain, or ofrom and after the paffing of this act, no perfon or perfons whatther of the commodities foever, at any time or times before the twenty fixth day of Auhere enume- gust, one thousand feven hundred and fixty fix, shall directly or indirectly export, transport, carry, or convey, or cause or procure to be exported, tranfported, carried or conveyed, out of or from the faid kingdoms of Great Britain or Ireland, or load or lay on board, or cause or procure to be laden or laid on board, in any fhip or other veffel, or boat, in order to be exported or or Ireland, at carried out of the faid kingdoms of Great Britain or Ireland, any time beany fort of corn, grain, malt, meal, flour, bread, biscuit, or starch, under the penalties and forfeitures herein after mentioned; that is to fay, That all the faid commodities that fhall be so exported, shipped, or laid on board, or loaded to be exported, shipped, or carried out, contrary to this act, fhall be forfeited; and that every offender or offenders therein shall forfeit the fum of twenty fhillings for every bushel of corn, grain, malt, meal, or flour; and twelve pence of lawful money of Great Britain for every pound weight of bread, biscuit, or starch, and fo in proportion for any greater or lefs quantity, which fhall be fo exported, shipped, or put on board to be exported; and also the ship, boat, or vessel, upon which any of the faid commodities fhall be exported, fhipped, or laden to be exported, and all her guns, tackle, apparel, and furniture, fhall be forfeited; and one moiety of all the faid penalties and forfeitures shall the profecu- be to the King's majesty, his heirs, and fucceffors, and the other moiety to him or them that will fue for the fame; and for offences which fhall be committed in that part of Great Britain called England, fuch penalties and forfeitures fhall be recovered by action of debt, bill, plaint, or information, in any of his Majesty's courts of record at Westminster, or before the juftices of affize, or at the great feffions in Wales, or by information at any general quarter feffions of the peace for the county, city, riding, divifion, or place, where the offence fhall be committed; and in fuch fuit, no effoin, protection, privilege, or wager of law, fhall be allowed; and for offences which fhall be committed in that part of Great Britain called Scotland, by action or fummary bill, or information, in the courts of feffion or exchequer in Scotland; and for offences which fhall be committed in Ireland, in his Majesty's courts of record in Dublin, or at the general quarter feffions of the peace for the county, city, or place, where the offence fhall be committed; and that the mafter and the master and mariners of any fuch fhip, boat, or veffel, wherein any such offence shall be committed, knowing fuch offence, and witbeing privy to, tingly and willingly aiding and affifting thereunto, and being and aiding thereof duly convicted in any fuch courts as aforefaid, fhall committed for be imprisoned for the space of three months, without bail or three months, mainprize.

malt for exportation fhall have been made, that the faid malt was actually declared or made for exportation, and the said barley steeped, and entered at the excife office, to be made into malt for exportation, on or before the paffing of this act; nor to any other of the commodities aforefaid which fhall be cleared out for exportation at any custom-house within Great Britain, on or before the paffing of this act; or at any cuftom-house in Ireland, on or before the paffing of this act, but that fuch fhips or veffels fhall be permitted to proceed on their voyages; any thing herein contained to the contrary in any wife notwithstanding.

XI. Provided always, and be it enacted, That nothing here contained shall extend to prohibit the exportation of rice out of this kingdom.

XII. Provided always, and be it enacted by the authority impowered by aforefaid, That in cafe his Majefty, at any time or times before proclamation, the faid twenty fixth day of August, one thousand seven hundred council, to per- and fixty fix, fhall (in his royal difcretion) judge it to be most mit, if he fall for the benefit and advantage of this kingdom, to permit the judge proper, exportation of corn, grain, malt, meal, flour, bread, biscuit, the exportaand starch, or any of them; that then it fhall and may be lawful to and for his Majefty, by his royal proclamation or proclamations to be iffued by and with the advice of his privy council, or by his Majesty's order in council to be publifhed in the London Gazette, from time to time to permit and suffer all and every perfon and perfons, natives and foreigners, but not any particular perfon or perfons, at any times or times before the faid twenty fixth day of Auguft, to export or carry out of the kingdoms of Great Britain or Ireland, or out of both or either of them, all or any of the commodities aforefaid, to all or any other place or places, and upon or without giving fecurity for the landing thereof in fuch place or places, and returning certificates of fuch landing, as to his Majefty fhall feem meet, and as in fuch proclamation or proclamations, or fuch orders of council to be publifhed in the London Gazette, fhall be expreffed and declared; any thing herein contained to the contrary notwithstanding.

XIII. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, for returning That all certificates of the landing and discharging of the faid commodities to be exported other than coaft-wise, shall be returned within the refpective times following; that is to fay, Where the bonds are taken in respect of any of the faid commodities to be exported from Great Britain or Ireland to any of the faid colonies or plantations in America, within eighteen calendar months after the date of the said bonds; and where to Gibraltar or Minorca, within twelve calendar months after the date of such bonds; and where to the islands of Guernsey or Ferfey, within fix calendar months after the date of fuch bonds; and where from Great Britain to Ireland, or from Ireland to Great Britain, within fix calendar months after the date of such bonds respectively.
