An Act

For the relief of sundry soldiers and widows of revolutionary soldiers.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the State Treasurer is hereby authorized and required to pay to Henry Monninger, George Gunter and Fran- Annuity and cis Graham of Franklin county, John Murphy of Perry county, H.Monninge gratuity, Andrew Wise of Lancaster county, John Hoobler of Beaver G. Gunter, county, Andrew Rupp of Lehigh county, and Philip Grubb of F. Graham, Allegheny county, soldiers, and Catharine Beyer of Mont. J. Murphy, gomery county, and Elizabeth Ott of Cumberland county, the J. Hoobler, widows of revolutionary soldiers, or to their respective crders, forty dollars to each immediately, and an annuity of forty dol- P. A Supplement

To an act entitled An act to alter an act entitled An act for erecting the town of Carlisle, in the county of Cumberland, into a borough, &c.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the town council of the borough of Carlisle shall authorized to have power, at the first meeting of the said town council, after appoint high the borough election in each and every year, or as soon thereafter as it may be convenient, to appoint one of the constables of the said borough, or any other suitable citizen of the same, high constable of the said borough, and the same high consta ble from time to time to remove from office and appoint another person in his place; and such high constable so appointed shall perform all the duties, and be subject to all the penalties and provisions which are now by law prescribed and established for the regulation of the high constable in the said borough.

SECTION 2. So much of the act of the twentieth of March, one thousand eight hundred and ten, as provides that no person

An Act

To annul the marriage contract of Charles Crillon Barton and Anna his wife.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the marriage contract entered into by and between Charles Crillon Barton and Anna his wife, late Anna Hollingshead, both of the city of Philadelphia, be and the same is hereby annulled and made void, and the parties released and discharged from the said contract, and from all duties and obligations arising therefrom, as fully and effectually and absolutely as if they never had been joined in marriage.

An Act

Providing for the repair of the bridges erected over the canals and railroads of this Commonwealth.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Penn ylvinia in General Assembly me, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the Canal sme, That the canal commissioners are hereby authorized and required to required to repair or rebuild, and to keep in good condition such keep in repair bridges on the Pennsylvania canal and rail-ways as were erect- cert'n bridg's ed at the expense of this Commonwealth, before or at the time over canal. of completing the said canal and rail-ways: Provided, That Proviso. said bridges shall in their opinion continue to be necessary for the accommodation of travellers and persons through whose grounds said canal and rail-ways may run; And provided, 2d Proviso. That no bridges shall be rebuilt or repaired on the land of any person who has received damages on account of said canals, and where, in assessing such damages, allowance was made to said persons for the perpetual repair and rebuilding of said bridges; and the expenses authorized by the provisions of this act are made payable out of the fund appropriated or to be appropriated for the purpose of repairs: Ad provided further, 3d Proviso That the canal commissioners shall not put up or keep in repair bridges for the land owners who have entered into a positive contract, with a perfect understanding between the partics that the land owner was hereafter to put up and keep in repair the bridges for his own convenience.
