Resolved, That the Governor be requested to communicate to the next Legislature whatever measures may have been adopted in pursuance of these resolutions.

Resolved, That the sum of two hundred dollars be appropri ated for carrying the above resolution into effect, the account to be settled by the accounting officers of the Commonwealth.

Resolution

Relative to procuring a standard of Weights and Measures.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, That the expense of procuring standard weights and measures, as required by the act of April fifteenth, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-four, be paid out of any unappropriated monies in the State Treasury, upon the accounts being settled by the proper officers in the usual manner.

Resolution

Relating to the removal of the transfer or stock books of loans in the Auditor General's office to the Bank of Pennsylvania.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, That the Auditor General be required and is hereby authorized to cause to be removed to the bank of Pennsylvania, all or any of the books now in his office pertaining to the several stock loans of this Commonwealth, and it shall be the duty of said bank to keep a record and entry of all transfers as is now kept in the office of the Auditor General: Frovided, That the said bank be required to furnish to the Auditor General a list of the holders and the amount held by each, of the said stock, previous to the second Tuesday of December in each year, as may appear by the books on the first of November annually: And provided further, That any bank or banks incorporated by the laws of this Commonwealth are hereby authorzed to offer for and subscribe to the whole or part of any loan or loans to this Commonwealth.

Resolution

Relative to the removing of sand and gravel from the public ground, and to lay out a street from the capitol to the canal.

WHEREAS, by the act of the twenty-ninth March, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-nine, the State Treasurer and the Secretary of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania were directed to prevent any person or persons from taking sand or gravel from the public ground on Capitol Hill, in and near the borough of Harrisburg: Therefore,

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, That the citizens of Harrisburg and M'Claysburg be permitted, at their own expense, to remove the earth, sand or gravel from said public ground, under the direction of the State Treasurer and Secretary of this Commonwealth and agreeably to the grading of the original plan for the improvement of the public ground. Resolved, That James Peacock, Ovid F. Johnson and William Ayres, or any two of them, shall survey and lay out a street from the public grounds, to the State canal, on a line with State street, one hundred and fifty feet in width, which survey shall be filed of record in the office of the Quarter Sessions, the damages to be assessed and paid in the manner provided by law for the opening of roads in the county of Dauphin, said commissioners to be allowed two dollars for every day engaged in the duty enjoined in this section, and reasonable charges for survey, to be paid out of the treasury of the county of Dauphin : And provided further, That no road, street, lane or alley, shall be laid out of a less width than forty feet between the public canal and the capitol.

To provide for the payment of certain costs on suits brought by the Commonwealth, and relative to the calculation of interest in the case of the Commonwealth versus Henry Baldwin.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of lennsylvania in General Assembly met, That the State Treasurer is hereby directed to pay to George Zeigler of Adams county, in trust for those entitled to it, the sum of fifty six dollars, being the costs on suits brought by the Commonwealth in the Court of Common Pleas of Adams county, number fifteen, sixteen, seventeen, eighteen and nineteen of January term, eighteen hundred twenty-nine.

Resolved, That the accountant officers be authorized and required to liquidate and adjust the amount due by Henry Bald.

certain lands sold him by the commissioners appointed to make
sale of the lands of the late John Nicholson, under the lien of
the State thereon, to compute interest upon said bond in the
same manner as if no payments had been made or judgment
obtained thereon, and also to make such deduction or suspension
of interest during the pendency of claims to said lands so sold
adverse to the right claimed by the State as may be consistent
with equity and justice.

No. 21.

Resolution

Relative to the claim of Benjamin Bear and others.

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of ennsylvania in General Assembly met, That the Canal Commissioners are hereby authorized and required to pay to Benjamin Bear, of Lycoming county, contrac- Benj. Bear, tor for building the Muncy dam, the sum of four hundred dollars and thirty-six cents, the balance due him for that work, to be paid out of the fund provided for repairs and damages for the ensuing year; and the Auditor General is hereby authorized to audit the same in the way and manner other claims are audited.

Resolved, That the board of appraisers of canal damages be and they are hereby authorized and required to re-examine and assess the damage, if any, which has been sustained by Martin M. M'Allister M'Allister, John Knorr, David Petriken and George A. Frick, J. Knorr, of the county of Columbia, by reason of the construction of the D. Petriken, Pennsylvania canal; and it shall be the duty of the said board G. A. Frick. of appraisers to issue subpoenas for witnesses, and examine them upon oath or affirmation, in relation to the claims of the persons named in this bill; and the said board of appraisers, or any one of them in the presence of the others, shall have power to administer oaths or affirmations to all such witnesses as it may be necessary to examine.

Anthony Roath, of Perry county, for canal damages, under the existing laws of this Commonwealth, as if no decision had been made.

Resolved, That the canal commissioners be and they are hereby required to ascertain the balance due, if any, to James S. Espy, late a contractor on the Juniata division, Pennsylva nia canal, for cast iron furnished by him for the Big Buffaloe aqueduct on said division, and pay the amount thereof out of the internal improvement fund.

Resolution

Relative to the Franklin bridge.

WHEREAS, by an extraordinary flood and accumulation of ice in French creek, in eighteen hundred and thirty-two, the one half of the Franklin bridge across said stream was destroyed entirely and the remaining part much injured: And whereas, The Legislature appropriated two thousand dollars to rebuild said part of the bridge thus destroyed; Therefore,

Resolved by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, That the board of managers of the Franklin Bridge company, are hereby authorized to retain and apply to the permanent repair of the Franklin bridge all surplus funds, money on hands and debts due said company, until in their opinion the same shall be rendered sufficiently permanent.
