An Act

For the relief of sundry soldiers and widows of soldiers of the revolutionary war.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Re- · presentatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the State Treasurer is hereby authorized and reGratuity and quired to pay to George Leeder of Montgomery county, Alexander Russel of Adams county, Adam Northeimer of Lancaster G. Leeder, county, Alexander Long of Beaver county, Jacob Gundy of A. Russel, A. Hamilton county, State of Illinois, and Peter Defrene of Berks county, soldiers, and Elizabeth Catharine Sterry and Mary A. Long, J. Gundy, Ferree, both of Adams county, widows of revolutionary soldiers, P. Defrene, or to their respective orders, forty dollars to each immediately, E. C. Sterry, and an annuity of forty dollars to each during life, payable half Mary Ferree. yearly, to commence on the first day of January, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-five.

SECTION 2. The State Treasurer is hereby authorized and required to pay to Peter Dager of Montgomery county, a graGratuity to tuity of forty dollars, in full for his revolutionary services: the Peter Dager. foregoing pensions and gratuity to be paid in conformity to the existing laws.

Preamble.

An Act

To vest certain real estate in the Seventh-day Baptist Monastical society of Snowhill.

WHEREAS, by deed, dated twenty-second September, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-three, Andrew Snowberger conveyed to Abraham Ely, John Snowberger, John Mann, Charles Hough and Abraham Burger, and their successors for ever, in trust, to and for the use of the monastical branch of the society then living at Snowhill, and their successors for ever, two pieces of land, one containing one hundred and six acres, more or less, and the other containing two acres and ninety-six

perches, in Washington township, Franklin county, Pennsylvania: And whereas, John Snowberger, by deed, dated twentyfifth August, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-nine, conveyed to John Mann, Charles Hoch, Samuel Snowberger and Daniel Mann, and their successors forever, as trustees of the Seventh-day Baptist society at Snowhill aforesaid, two other pieces of land, in the township aforesaid, one containing eighteen acres and sixty-eight and a half perches, and the other one acre and one hundred and four perches: And whereas, Frederick Hess and wife, by deed dated the third of August, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-two, conveyed to John Snowberger, John Mann, Charles Hoch, Samuel Snowberger and David Snowberger, and their successors for ever, as trustees of the same society, twenty-one acres and one hundred and four perches of land, in the same township: And whereas, Barbara Snowberger, by deed dated the twenty-seventh day of March, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-three, conveyed to John Snowberger, John Mann, Charles Hoch, Samuel Snowberger and David Snowberger, and their successors for ever, in trust for the same society, ninety-eight perches of land, in the same township: And whereas, John Snowberger, by deed dated the same day last mentioned, conveyed to John Mann, Charles Hoch, Samuel Snowberger and David Snowberger, and their successors for ever, trustees of the said society, twenty-five acres and ninety-one perches of land, in the same township: And whereas, the said society, since the execution of said several deeds, viz on the seventeenth day of June, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-four, has been incorporated according to law, by the name and style of "The Seventh-day Baptist Monastical society of Snowhill," and have desired that the several parcels of land may be vested and confirmed in the society, by its corporate name, according to the true meaning and intentiou of said deeds: Therefore,

An Act

To authorize a temporary loan for the use of the Commonwealth.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in Generał Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the. same, That the Governor be and he is hereby authorized to negotiate a temporary loan, on the credit of the Commonwealth, not to exceed two hundred and fifty thousand dollars, at an interest not more than five per centum per annum, with any bank or banks, corporation, individual or individuals, as in his opinion may be most advantageous; and the sum or sums of money so borrowed shall be vested in the commissioners of the internal improvement fund, and applied to discharge the interest on canal loans falling due on the first of February next, and the money so borrowed shall be repaid to the lender or lenders within twelve months from the date of this act out of any moneys in the Treasury applicable to the payment of interest.

A Supplentent

o an act extending the time for closing the concerns of the Bank of Washington, passed the eighteenth day of December, Anno Domini, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-nine.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the time for winding up and closing the concerns of the Bank of Washington, in the manner authorized by existing law, be and is hereby extended to the first day of April, one

thousand eight hundred and thirty-eight, if found necessary by

the managers, and no longer.

A Supplement

To an act entitled An act to provide for the erection of a house for the employment and support of the poor in the county of Fayette.

Treasurer of Fayette co. shall disburse,

on orders of

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Re presentatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, in Gene ral Assembly me!, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That the treasurer of the county of Fayette, shall, in addition to his other duties, disburse upon the orders of the directors, all directors of the poor and house of employment of the county moneys set aforesaid, or a majority of them, all moneys which shall be apart for sup collected or set apart for the support of said house of employ- port of house of employm't, ment; that he shall give bond in a sum sufficient to cover all &c. moneys which shall come into his hands as treasurer, to the directors aforesaid: Provided, That as treasurer of the directors Proviso. of the poor, he shall receive compensation at the rate and in the same manner as he shall be paid for disbursing on the orders of the commissioners of said county.

SECTION 2. That so much of the act of the second day of April, one thousand eight hundred and twenty-two, to which Part of act of this is a supplement, as provides for the appointment of a trea. April, 1829, repealed. surer to the directors of the poor, be and the same is hereby repealed.

A Supplement

To an act entitled, "An act to incorporate the Chambersburg Insurance Company," passed the third day of April, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-three.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That so much of the thirtieth section of the act entitled, An act to incorporate the Chambersburg Insurance company, &c., passed the third day of April, one thousand eight hundred and thirty-three, as limits insurances against fire by the Chambersburg Insurance company to property in the county of Franklin, be and the same is hereby repealed; and that all policies to be made by said company, shall be valid and effectual, wherever the property insured be situated.

An Act

To confer on Mary Lavinia L.eas the rights and benefits of a child born in lawful wedlock.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Senate and House of Representatives of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in General Assembly met, and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the same, That Mary Lavinia, the daughter of George W. Leas, late of Adams county, and Margaret Leas, (late Margaret Grove, of Franklin county,) born some time before the marriage. of the 'said George W. and Margaret Leas, shall have and enjoy all the rights, benefits and advantages of a child born in lawful wedlock, and shall be able and capable in law to inherit and transmit any estate whatsoever, as fully and com
