CHAP. 91.--AN ACT to amend the charter of the Louisville Firemen's Insur

ance Company.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the seventh section of the charter of the Louisville Firemen's Insurance Company, shall be so amended as to authorize any of the citizens of Kentucky to purchase and hold stock in said company.

CHAP. 93.-AN ACT for the benefit of the Sheriff of Franklin county, and for other purposes.

WHEREAS, It is represented to the present General Assembly, that in consequence of the Court of Assessment for the 22d Regiment of Kentucky Militia holding its session on the first day of the presidential election, in November last, the present Sheriff of Franklin county was unable to make out and present his delinquent list of muster fines, assessed and placed in his hands for collection for the year cighteen hundred and thirtyfive-For remedy whereof,

SEC. 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That it shall and may be lawful for said sent delinquent Sheriff, to make out and present his delinquent list of muster fines, so placed in his hands, to a board of officers for said regiment, at any time within three months from and after the passage of this act; and such board of officers are hereby authorized and required to receive, and act upon the same, in the same manner, that they would have had the right to do had it Jos. SEC. 2. Be it further enacted, That the act, entitled, an act for the benefit of Joseph Clarke, late Sheriff of Franklin county, approved 29th February, 1836, shall be, and the same is hereby so amended, as to allow to said Clarke the further time

of three months, from and after the passage of this act, to make out and present his delinquent list of muster fines, placed in his hands for said regiment, for the year 1834, to a board of officers of said regiment, as contemplated by said act to which this section is an amendment.

CHAP. 94.-AN ACT concerning the public roads in the county of Bath.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That all laws allowing or permitting the county court of Bath county to permit hereafter any individual to set up or erect any gate or gates on any of the public roads in said county, be, and the same is hereby repealed: Provided however, That nothing in this act shall be so construed as to affect the law now in force, in relation to establishing private passways in said county.

CHAP. 95.--AN ACT to amend an act, entitled, an act to incorporate the towns of Harrodsburg and Danville.

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the Police Judges of Harrodsburg and Danville shall, severally, have full power and authority to grant injunctions, restraining orders against absent defendants, writs of ne exeat, habeas corpus, under the same rules and regulations prescribed by the several acts authorizing certain justices of the county courts to grant injunctions, writs of ne exeat and habeas corpus.

CHAP. 96.--AN ACT for the benefit of the Sheriff of Cumberland county. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That John Emmerson, Sheriff of Cumberland county, be allowed the further time, until the 15th day of March given to pay next, to receive and pay over the revenue of the said county, and that he shall have an allowance made in his settlement with the Auditor of Public Accounts, for his just claims against the

CHAP. 97.--AN ACT concerning the improvements of Muldrow's hill.,

Sec. 1. SEC. 3. That said Board of Internal Improvement shall settle the account of Henry J. Eastin, for engineering and superintending the construction of said road, previous to the 16th of March, 1836, when the said Eastin was appointed one of the assistant engineers of the State; and for any balance found due him, the President of said Board shall certify the same to the Auditor of Public Accounts, who is required to draw his warrant on the Treasury in favor of said Eastin for said sum to which said Eastin is entitled as his compensation for his services in engineering and superintending said road.

SEC. 4. That the thirty-first section of the act, entitled, an act for the Internal Improvement of the State of Kentucky, apof 1835, re- proved February 28, 1835, be, and the same is hereby repealpealed. ed.

SEC. 6. CHAP. 98.-AN ACT for the benefit of John L. Bridges and George Passmore? WHEREAS, It is represented to the present General Assem- bly, that John L. Bridges and George Passmore are now the owners of a survey of one thousand acres of land, situate in the present county of Mercer, on the waters of Chaplin's fork, granted by the Commonwealth of Virginia to Isaac Campbell, by patent grant bearing date the 24th day of April, 1792; which said tract of land was by some inadvertence twice entered for taxation as non-resident's land, and also twice entered for the same purpose and during the same period as the land of resident's of this Commonwealth; and was, accordingly, in the year 1800, forfeited to the Commonwealth for the non-payment of taxes due thercon for the years, from 1792 to 1795 inclusive, as four several tracts of land of that size, whereas, in fact, it was the same tract four times entered; which forfeiture yet remains in full force, and it is deemed just and expedient to permit the said John L. Bridges and George Passmore to redeem the

said tract of land, from the forfeitures aforesaid, by paying into the Treasury so much as may now be due thereon, for the taxes for the said several years aforesaid, regarding the same as one tract of land-For remedy whereof,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the said John L. Bridges and George Passmore shall be, and they are hereby authorized and permitted to redeem the said tract of land herein above described, ment of taxes. from the forfeitures aforesaid, resulting from a failure to paythe taxes thereon from the years 1792 to the year 1795 inclusive, by paying into the Treasury of this Commonwealth, so much as may now be due upon the said tract of land for the taxes of the years aforesaid, regarding the same as but one tract of land, and subject to but one entry for taxation; and the Auditor of Public Accounts is hereby directed and authorized to receive the said payment, and grant to the said Bridges and Passmore the ordinary quietus or other evidence of such payment, and the same, when made, shall be in full satisfaction and discharge of all claim of this Commonwealth upon the said tract of land for the taxes accruing thereon for the years aforesaid; and the forfeiture aforesaid shall thenceforward be held and deemed to be fully remitted, and of no effect, in the same manner and to the same extent, as though it had never been declared or imposed: Provided however, That nothing herein contained shall be so construed as to impair or in any manner af fect the rights of other persons (if any they be,) claiming title to the said tract of land derived, under the forfeitures aforesaid or otherwise.

CHAP. 99.--AN ACT for the benefit of John A. Chism, of Monroe county.

WHEREAS, It is represented to the present General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky that John A. Chism, of the county of Monroe, has purchased a favorite and family slave, who was then and still is in the State of Tennessee, being ignorant of the several acts of Assembly prohibiting the importation of slaves into this Commonwealth, and he not wishing to sacrifice his feelings in again selling said slave-Therefore,

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, That the said John A. Chism be, and he is hereby authorized and permitted to bring said negro slave, (called Buck) to this State, and by so doing, he is hereby released from all the pains and penalties prescribed by said several acts of Assembly aforesaid.
