The United States Customs Court was formerly called the Board of General Appraisers, the name being changed by the Act of May 28, 1926. The court was transferred to the Department of Justice by section 518, Tariff Act of 1930 (U.S.C., title 19, sec. 1518). Subsequently, under the Act of August 7, 1939, ch. 501, sec. 1, 53 Stat. 1223, the court was transferred to the Administrative Office of the United States Courts (U.S.C., title 28, sec. 450; Judicial Code, sec. 308); see also new title 28 U.S.C.; sec. 610; effective September 1, 1948. Earlier decisions appear in TREASURY DECISIONS, Volumes I to 73, inclusive; previous to that in Synopsis of Decisions, 1890, and following years.
