ADJOURNED SESSION OF THE GRAND LODGE OF THE UNITED STATES, Held at the City of Philadelphia, June, 1833. PHILADELPHIA, June 7, 1833. The R. W. Grand Lodge convened this day, pursuant to a resolution of the Adjourned March Session, 1832, at Odd Fellows' Hall, city of Philadelphia, when the following were present: THOMAS WILDEY, M. W. G. Sire. R. W. D. G. Sire, p. t. Proxy Rep. of Massachusetts Rep. of District of Columbia. Whereupon, the Grand Lodge was declared duly organized. Rep. Ridgely, of Ohio, submitted the following, which was adopted: Resolved, That all brothers, members of Grand Lodges and in possession of the Royal Purple degree, if recommended by the Representative of the state from which he hails, be admitted to witness the proceedings of this Grand Lodge. A communication was received from P. G. H. S. Sanderson, Proxy Rep. of Massachusetts, deputizing P. G. J. Brannan, to act for him as Proxy. On motion of Rep. Gettys, of District of Columbia, the deputation was accepted. On motion of Rep. Keyser, of Maryland, the committee on the Constitution was increased by adding Rep's Ridgely, of Ohio, and Pearce, of New York. Rep. Ridgely, of Ohio, offered the following preamble and resolution: Whereas, The untiring zeal, devoted labor, and cheering success of P. G. Sire Thomas Wildey, in the business of Odd Fellowship, entitles him to the warmest approbation and universal favor of every Odd Fellow. And Whereas, His indefatigable industry and unceasing efforts to unite this country from north to south, from east to west, in one common brotherhood, manifested from his earliest establishment of this Order; and more especially by his recent disinterested and laborious visit to the Western and Southern states, and the most glorious success resulting from his tour, by the establishment of Odd Fellowship in the great states of Ohio, Kentucky, and Louisiana, invoke our deepest and most affectionate feelings, and imperiously demand an eternal perpetuation of its merits :-Therefore Resolved, That a committee be appointed to prepare and present, on behalf of this Grand Lodge of the United States, to P. G. Sire Thomas Wildey, a token of the high respect which this Grand Lodge entertains for these distinguished services to the Order, and the affectionate regard which we cherish for his private worth. On motion, the foregoing preamble and resolution was laid on the table. On motion, the brothers possessing the requisite qualifications were invited to attend the sessions of the Grand Lodge. On motion, the Grand Lodge adjourned to meet at three o'clock, this afternoon. ODD FELLOWS' HALL, 3 o'clock, P. M. Pursuant to adjournment, the Grand Lodge again assembled: Present, the same Officers and Representatives as in the morning. Rep. Keyser, of Maryland, from the special committee to whom was referred the Constitution of the Grand Lodge for amendation, submitted the following report, which was accepted. To the R. W. Grand Lodge of the United States: The special committee to whom was referred the subject of amending the Constitution of the Grand Lodge, present the following form of Constitution and By-Laws, for the consideration of the Grand Lodge. GEORGE KEYSER, Chairman. On motion, the Grand Lodge adjourned to meet at six o'clock this evening. ODD FELLOWS' HALL, 6 o'clock, P. M. The Grand Lodge convened pursuant to adjournment; Present, the same Officers and Representatives as in the afternoon. On motion, the proposed form of Constitution, as submitted, was taken up for consideration, and having been read by Árticles, was amended and approved. A petition was received from brothers Wm. W. Moore, James Gettys, George M. Davis, Robert Boyd, Wm. H. Mauro, Thomas Stelle, Joseph Burrows, and Wm. L. Bailey, praying for a charter for an Encampment of Patriarchs, to be located at Washington, D. C., and hailed as "Columbia Encampment, No. 1." On motion, the petition was referred to a special committee of three. The Grand Sire announced as the committee, Rep's Pearce, of New York; Hopkins, of Pennsylvania; and Keyser, of Maryland. A communication was received from P. G. McAnnal, of Delaware, which was read, and on motion, referred to Rep's Hopkins, of Pennsylvania; Gettys, of District of Columbia; and Neilson, of Louisiana. On motion, the Grand Lodge adjourned to meet at eight o'clock this evening. • Form of Constitution.-The form submitted is not spread on the journal, but copies were furnished to the several Grand Lodges and Grand Encampments immediately after the close of the session. ODD FELLOWS' HALL, 8 o'clock, P. M. The Grand Lodge met pursuant to adjournment: Present, the same Officers and Representatives as in the morning. Rep. Pearce, of New York, from the special committee to whom was referred the application of Wm. W. Moore and others, submitted the following report, which was accepted, and the resolution adopted. To the R. W. Grand Lodge of the United States: The undersigned, to whom was referred the application of brothers Wm. W. Moore and others, praying for a charter for an Encampment of Patriarchs, to be located at Washington City, D. C., and hailed as "Columbia Encampment, No. 1," have given the subject due attention, and submit the accompanying resolution for adoption. JOHN PEARCE, Resolved, That the prayer of the petitioners be granted. On motion, the Grand Lodge proceeded to the consideration of the ByLaws. The By-Laws were then read by Articles, as submitted, and approved. On motion, it was Resolved, That the Constitution be printed, and each Grand Lodge and Encampment be furnished with five copies, and each Representative with one. Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, from the special committee to whom was referred the communication of P. G. McAnnal, submitted the following, which was adopted. To the R. W. Grand Lodge of the United States: The committee to whom was referred the communication of James McAnnal, respectfully report: That they have taken into consideration the matter therein mentioned, and are of opinion that, Whereas, This Grand Lodge, by its resolution under date of 19th March last, directed Delaware Lodge, No. 1, again to notify P. G. James McAnnal to be and appear before them, to make defence to the charges preferred against him by the committee of said lodge; and that he be allowed time to make and prepare his defence. And, Whereas, Although a considerable time has expired, Delaware Lodge, No. 1, not yet done as directed, by having altogether neglected or refused to do the same Therefore, be it Resolved, That Delaware Lodge, No. 1, is in a state of insubordination, and deserves the censure of this Grand Lodge. And further be it Resolved, That the Grand Sire suspend the opening of the Grand Lodge at Wilmington, till such time as Delaware Lodge, No. 1, returns to its duty. Your committee are further of opinion, that the case of James McAnnal requires investigation without further delay. They therefore recommend that it be requested of the Grand Sire to investigate his case; and who, if he judge proper, may restore him to membership in the Order, or confirm his expulsion-and report to this Grand Lodge at its next stated meeting, his acting and doing therein. HOWELL HOPKINS, F* On motion of Rep. Keyser, of Maryland, the preamble and resolution, as submitted by Rep. Ridgely, of Ohio, was taken up for consideration, and adopted. On motion, Rep's Ridgely, of Ohio; Brannan of Massachusetts; Pearce, of New York; Keyser, of Maryland; Hopkins, of Pennsylvania; Gettys, of District of Columbia; and Neilson, of Louisiana, were constituted a committee to carry said preamble and resolution into effect. On motion, it was Resolved, That the committee on the communication from Delaware, report at the September Session. On motion, it was Resolved, That all the unfinished business be referred to the committee on the Constitution. On motion, it was Resolved, That the thanks of the Grand Lodge of the United States, be, and they are hereby tendered to the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania, for the use of their splendid hall during the present Session. The Grand Lodge then closed the Session. AUGUSTUS MATHIOT, Grand Secretary. ANNUAL COMMUNICATION OF THE GRAND LODGE OF THE UNITED STATES, Held at the City of Baltimore, September, 1833. MONDAY, September 2d, 1833. The R. W. Grand Lodge convened this day, at Odd Fellows' Hall, city of Baltimore, being the regular Annual Communication, when the following were present: THOMAS WILDEY, THOMAS SCOTCHBURN, G. M. GEORGE KEYSER, M. W. G. Sire. The Grand Lodge was then duly organized. The Grand Sire appointed Rep's Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, and Pearce, of New York, to examine the credentials of Rep. Robinson, of Delaware. Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, from the committee on credentials, submitted the following, which was accepted, and the resolution adopted." To the R. W. Grand Lodge of the United States: The committee to whom was referred the credentials of Rep. Robinson, of Delaware, report that they found them correct, and offer the following resolution for adoption. HOWELL HOPKINS, Resolved, That P. G. Simon Robinson be admitted and acknowledged as the Representative from the Grand Lodge of Delaware. The proceedings of the last Annual Communication, and the Special Session of May 4th, 1833, were read and approved. The reports of the several Grand Lodges and Encampments, and subordinate lodges, were presented and read. The Grand Sire presented the following report: To the R. W. Grand Lodge of the United States: OFFICERS AND REPRESENTATIVES, The Grand Sire would beg leave to introduce his report by informing you, that in accordance with your resolution of March 19th, 1833, he left Balti more on June the 5th, for the purpose of carrying the said resolution into effect. The meeting was convened on Friday, June the 7th, in the splendid hall erected by our brothers of the city of Philadelphia. The special purpose of this convention being a revision of the Constitution of the Grand Lodge of the United States-that object being accomplished, in connection with other incidental business, the Grand Lodge closed its session. By the same resolution, of the session of 1831, which had incapacitated the Grand Lodge of Delaware in acting as a Grand Lodge, I was directed that so soon as five Past Grands, from the said state, should make application again for their charter, to return the same forthwith, and again constitute them a Grand Lodge; that application had been made, and the brothers of Delaware were anxious for my presence for the opening the Lodge, as also with the hope, that my efforts might tend to harmonize the jarring interests of the state. To accomplish these objects, two days after the close of the Grand Lodge of the United States, accompanied by several of the Grand Officers of the state of Pennsylvania, I visited the borough of Wilmington, and under the most flattering auspices, re-opened their Grand Lodge. You are aware that applications have been received from the brothers of Paterson and Camden, in New Jersey, to open a Grand Lodge in said state; but owing to the difficulty of selecting a fit point of location, the ob ject of the petitioners has not been effected up to the present time.
