The Chair reported the following as the committee, viz: P. G. Sire Wildey; Rep's Gettys, of District of Columbia; Pearce, of Pennsylvania; Lucas, of Louisiana; Sanderson, of Kentucky; and Ridgely, of Maryland. The question was then taken on the adoption of the report, preamble, and resolutions, which were carried in the affirmative. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, offered the following resolution, which was adopted: Resolved, That the subordinate lodges of the state of New York, be informed by the Grand Secretary, that they are under the immediate jurisdiction of the Grand Lodge of the United States, and are required to report accordingly. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, offered the following resolutions, which were adopted: Resolved, That the committee heretofore raised in reference to the business of the Order in New York, be and they are hereby also directed to inquire into the expediency of the appointment of some qualified brother, who shall be charged by this body with authority to visit all the states in which Odd Fellowship exists in this country, once a year, for the purpose of instructing the brethren in the work, and superintending generally its welfare, and who shall also be invested with power under special dispensation to be issued by the Grand Sire, to organize lodges whenever proper and constitutional applications shall be made for the same. Resolved, That the said committee, if they entertain a favorable opinion of the expediency of this measure, report some plan of providing a suitable and adequate compensation for the services contemplated to be rendered by such brother to the Order. Rep. Sanderson, of Kentucky, moved that in renewing the Grand Lodge charter, for the state of New York, the committee be instructed to retain the original Number of said Grand Lodge, which was adopted. Rep. Sanderson, of Kentucky, offered the following resolution, which was adopted: Resolved, That the committee on the state of New York be authorized to restore the original charter, on satisfactory evidence of a restoration of order in that state, with such remarks on its face as shall shew its having been annulled this day, and restored by the committee. The Grand Secretary presented the following communication, which was, on motion, accepted. "IN GRAND LODGE OF THE UNITED STATES, To the M. W. Grand Sire, Officers and Representatives, Of the Grand Lodge of the United States: BRETHREN-I avail myself of the earliest opportunity which has been afforded me to return my sincere acknowledgments for the honor conferred upon me by electing me to the distinguished office of Grand Sire of the United States, and while I am proud of the confidence of the brethren, thus manifested, in my zeal and devotion to the interests of the Order, I am compelled to forego the pleasure and satisfaction I should derive from the acceptance of the important trust confided to me, and must therefore beg leave respectfully to decline the acceptance of the office of Grand Sire of the United States. I am very respectfully, JAMES L. RIDGELY, The Subordinate Lodges.-It will be seen by reference to the report of the Committee on Returns at the next session, that the lodges located in the city of New York made report as required, while those out of the city failed in doing so. The Grand Secretary presented a communication from the Grand Lodge of Louisiana, requesting information relative to the formation and mode of operating Degree Lodges. Whereupon, Rep. Pearce, of Pennsylvania, moved that the Grand Secretary be requested to give the necessary information on the above subject, which motion prevailed. The Grand Secretary presented the following bills, which were read and ordered to be paid: D. G. Sire Pearce, travelling expenses from Philadelphia to the city of New York, Paterson, N. J., and back, P. G. M. Leise, travelling expenses from Baltimore to Washington, Georgetown, and back. $26 00 750 Rep. Pearce of Pennsylvania, moved that the Keeper of the Hall receive the sum of five dollars, for his services during the present sessions, which was concurred in. On motion, the Grand Lodge adjourned until eight o'clock, this evening. WEDNESDAY, 8 o'clock, P. M. The Grand Lodge met pursuant to adjournment: Present, the Officers and a due representation. The Chair directed the Grand Secretary to charge the constitutional fine against all Representatives of Grand Lodges, who were not present on the first day of the present session of the Grand Lodge. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, moved that Rep. Lucas, of Louisiana, be excused, from the fact of his being three hundred miles from the city on that day, which was concurred in. The Grand Secretary read a letter from P. G. Z. B. Glazier, Rep. of the Grand Lodge of Delaware, making an apology for his absence at the present Communication. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, offered the following resolution, which was concurred in: Resolved, That the Grand Lodge of the United States pay the expenses of the committee of visitation to New York State, and that said committee if successful in re-organizing the Order in New York, stipulate with the Order there for re-imbursing the same to this Grand Lodge. In consequence of the resignation of the Grand Sire elect, the Grand Lodge proceeded to receive nominations for that office, when Rep. Pearce, of Pennsylvania, presented the name of P. G. M. Samuel H. Perkins, of the Grand Lodge of Pennsylvania. No other nomination being made, Rep. Lucas, of Louisiana, moved that the Grand Lodge go into the election for Grand Sire, which was concurred in. On counting the ballots, P. G. M. SAMUEL H. PERKINS, of Pennsylvania, was declared unanimously elected to the office of M. W. Grand Sire of the Grand Lodge of the United States, for the ensuing two years. On motion of Rep.
