WEDNESDAY, 4 o'clock, P. M. The Grand Lodge met pursuant to adjournment: Present, the Officers and a due representation. The Grand Sire called for the performance of the resolution directing the committee to present the Plate to P. G. Sire Wildey. Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, moved the re-consideration of the resolution requiring the Chairman of the committee to present P. G. Sire Wildey with the Service of Plate. Which was determined in the nega tive. The resolution submitted by Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, and laid on the table this morning, was, on motion, called up for consideration; the yeas and nays being ordered, were as follows: YEAS-Rep's Mowatt, Warner, Sanderson and Pearce-4. The resolution was decided to be before the Grand Lodge by the casting vote of the Grand Sire. A motion was made to amend the resolution, by striking out the word "January," and insert June. Whereupon, Rep. Ridgely moved to lay the same on the table, which was decided in the affirmative, by the following vote: YEAS-Rep's Ridgely, 2 votes; Mowatt, Warner and Glazier-5. Resolved, That the resolution directing the Chairman of the committee to present the Service of Plate to P. G. Wildey, be now carried into effect. The yeas and nays were called for on the adoption of the same, and were as follows: YEAS-Rep's Ridgely, 2 votes; Mowatt, Warner, Glazier and Sander son-6. NAYS-Rep's Hopkins, 2 votes; and Pearce—3, Whereupon, Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, complied with the resolution, and presented M. W. P. G. Sire Wildey, with an elegant Service of Plate, valued at Five Hundred Dollars, in the name of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in the United States of America, accompanied by an Address, a copy of which was requested by the Grand Lodge, and ordered to be printed with the proceedings.* P. G. Sire, Wildey, made a suitable reply, a copy of which was also requested for publication. Rep. Mowatt, of New York, moved that the Grand Lodge resolve itself into Committee of the Whole, for the further consideration of the Work of the Order. Which motion prevailed. The Committee having spent some time in the consideration thereof, rose, and the Chairman reported that they had progressed from section 78 to 130, inclusive. On motion, the Grand Lodge adjourned until nine o'clock, to-morrow morning. These addresses were not printed, and cannot be obtained. THURSDAY, October 8th, 9 o'clock, A. M. The Grand Lodge met pursuant to adjournment: Present, the Officers and a due representation. On motion, the Grand Lodge resolved itself into Committee of the Whole, on the consideration of the Work of the Order. The Committee having spent some time in the consideration thereof, rose, and the Chairman reported to the Grand Lodge, that they had progressed from section 131 to 136, inclusive. On motion of Rep. Mowatt, of New York, the Grand Secretary was directed to notify the Grand Sire and Representatives now in the city, that unless they attend the meetings of this Grand Lodge, they will be fined. On motion, the Grand Lodge adjourned until three o'clock, this after noon. THURSDAY, 3 o'clock, P. M. The Grand Lodge met pursuant to adjournment: Present, the same Officers and a due representation. Rep. Mowatt, of New York, offered the following, which was adopted. Whereas, P. G. M. Marshall, of the state of New York, was elected to the office of D. Grand Sire, in October, 1834; and Whereas, The said P. G. M. Marshall, not having notified this Grand Lodge of his acceptance of said office, and not appearing to be installed therein; Therefore, be it Resolved, That the Grand Lodge will proceed to an election of a Deputy Grand Sire, to-morrow afternoon, at four o'clock. On motion of Rep. Pearce, of New Jersey, it was Resolved, That this Grand Lodge proceed to the installation of Grand Officers, tomorrow afternoon, at five o'clock. The Grand Lodge then resolved itself into Committee of the Whole, on the Work of the Order. After the Committee had been occupied some time in the consideration thereof, rose, and the Chairman reported to the Grand Lodge, that they had progressed in the consideration of the same, from section 137 to 365, inclusive. On motion, the Grand Lodge adjourned until half past seven o'clock, this evening. THURSDAY, 7 o'clock, P. M. The Grand Lodge met pursuant to adjournment: Present, all the Officers, and a due representation. The Grand Secretary, pro tem., not being able to attend, the Grand Sire appointed Rep. Mowatt, of New York, to act as Grand Secretary, pro tem., for the evening. On motion, the Grand Lodge resolved itself into Committee of the Whole, for the further consideration of the Work of the Order. The Committee having been some time occupied in the consideration thereof, rose, and the Chairman reported that they had finished the entire Work of the Order, and reported the same to the Grand Lodge, with the following amendments, and asked to be discharged from the further consideration of the subject. That sections 48 and 50 had been stricken out, and in lieu of section 50, the Conductors charge as used in Maryland had been inserted. That section 78 had been amended by inserting the Past Grands charge as used in Maryland, accompanied with a note, granting permission to omit the same should time be pressing. That so much of the lecture of the Degree of the Covenant, on page 20, old book, omitted by the committee, had been inserted. That section 136, had been stricken out. That so much of the Remembrance Degree, in old book of Maryland, commencing on page 37, at "P. G." with slight modification, had been added after section 183, and that whenever the words ******* ***** appear in said degree, had been stricken out. That section 283 had been amended. That section 342 had been stricken out and a substitute inserted. That section 369 had been amended, and recommend that the said section be referred to the committee on the Work of the Order. On motion, the report of the Committee of the Whole was accepted, and the Committee discharged from the further consideration of the subject, and the reference suggested therein was made. On motion, the Grand Lodge adjourned until nine o'clock, to-morrow morning. FRIDAY, October 9th, 9 o'clock, A. M. The Grand Lodge met pursuant to adjournment: Present, the Officers and a due representation. Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, from the Committee on the Work of the Order, reported an addition to section 369, which was accepted and ordered to be entered as a part of said section. On motion, the Grand Lodge proceeded to the consideration of the Work of the Order, as recommended by the Committee of the Whole. Whereupon, Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, moved that the vote on the final passage of the Work of the Order, be taken by States, which was decided in the affirmative. It was then agreed by the Grand Lodge, to put the Work of the Order on its passage by parts, whereupon, Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, moved to adopt from section 1 to 47, inclusive, which was unanimously concurred in. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, moved to adopt from section 48 to 87, inclusive. Whereupon, Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, moved to amend by restoring section 48 as reported by the committtee on the Work of the Order, which had been stricken out in Committee of the Whole, which was decided in the negative; the yeas and nays being called were as follows: YEAS-Rep's Hopkins, 2 votes; Pearce-3. NAYS-Rep's Ridgely, 2 votes; Mowatt, Warner, Glazier, Sanderson and P. G. Sire Wildey-7. Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, moved to strike out the amendment passed in Committee of the Whole, to the 50th section, and restore the same as reported by the committee on the Work of the Order, which was decided in the affirmative. Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, moved to strike out the P. G.'s charge, which was determined in the negative. The question then recurred on sections 48 to 87, inclusive, as amended, and was decided in the affirmative. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, moved to adopt from section 88 to 122, inclusive, which was decided in the affirmative. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, moved to adopt from section 123 to 139 inclusive, which was decided in the affirmative; the yeas and nays being called, were as follows: YEAS-Rep's Ridgely, 2 votes; Mowatt, Warner, Sanderson and P. G. Sire Wildey 6. NAYS-Rep's Hopkins, 2 votes; Glazier and Pearce-4. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, moved to adopt from section 140 to 180, inclusive, which was decided in the affirmative. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, moved to adopt from section 181 to 199, inclusive. Whereupon, Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, moved to strike out the amendment adopted in Committee of the Whole; which was determined in the negative by the casting vote of the Grand Sire; the yeas and nays being called were as follows: YEAS -Rep's Mowatt, Hopkins, 2 votes; Pearce and Sanderson-5. NAYS-Rep's Ridgely, 2 votes; Warner, Glazier and P. G. Sire Wild ey-5. The question was then taken upon the motion to adopt, and determined in the affirmative by the casting vote of the Grand Sire; the yeas and nays being called were as follows: YEAS-Rep's Ridgely, 2 votes; Warner, Sanderson and P. G. Sire Wildey-5. NAYS-Rep's Mowatt, Hopkins, 2 votes; Glazier and Pearce-5. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, moved to adopt from section 200 to 283, inclusive, which was decided in the affirmative. The Grand Lodge then on motion adopted from section 284 to 362, inclusive, and from 363 to 371, inclusive. A motion was made to amend, by striking out a certain portion of section 416, which was determined in the affirmative; the yeas and nays being called were as follows: YEAS-Rep's Ridgely, 2 votes; Mowatt, Hopkins, 2 votes; Warner, Sanderson and P. G. Sire Wildey-8. NAYS-Rep. Pearce-1. On motion, the Grand Lodge then adopted from section 372 to the conclusion. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, moved that the Work of the Order, as amended, be now passed, which was decided in the affirmative by the following vote: YEAS-Rep's Ridgely, 2 votes; Mowatt, Hopkins, 2 votes; Warner, Glazier, Sanderson and P. G. Sire Wildey-9. NAYS-Rep. Pearce-1. Rep. Pearce, of New Jersey, moved that a select committee be appointed for the purpose of having the Work of the Order printed and distributed among the several lodges, which motion prevailed. The Grand Sire announced as the committee, P. G. Sire Wildey; and Rep's Ridgely, of Maryland, and Warner, of District of Columbia. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, offered the following resolution, which was adopted. Resolved, That the committee of printing and distributing the amended Charges and Lectures, be instructed to deliver to the Grand Representatives, the compliment of new books they may require, upon the surrender of the old ones, if convenient; and if not convenient, upon the condition that he cause them to be surrendered at the next session of the Grand Lodge of the United States. Rep. Pearce, of New Jersey, offered the following resolution, which was adopted. " Resolved, That the following be appended to each Charge Book when printed : Adopted by the Grand Lodge of the United States, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, at its regular Annual Session, held in the city of Baltimore, on the 9th day of October, 1835. Present, G. Sec'ry." JAMES GETTYS, M. W. G. Sire. Grand Sire. Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, moved that the Grand Sire be instructed to furnish the different lodges and Encampments, where there is no Grand Lodge or Grand Encampment, with the necessary Charge Books, &c., which motion prevailed. Rep. Hopkins, of Pennsylvania, moved that each of the subordinate lodges be furnished with one Charge and two Lecture Books, and each Encampment with six Books, which motion prevailed. Rep. Ridgely, of Maryland, offered the following resolution, which was adopted. Resolved, That the Committee of Correspondence of this Grand Lodge, be directed to address a congratulatory letter* to our brethren in Great Britain, upon the state of Congratulatory letter.-The following is the letter which the committee transmitted. "The M. W. Grand Sire of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, of the United States of Americathe R. W. Grand Representatives of the Grand Lodge of the United States-Officers and BrethrenTo the M. W. Grand Master, D. Grand Master, Officers and Brethren of the Manchester Unity, (England) of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, in Friendship, Love and Truth, Greeting: "Well-beloved Brethren: "At the Annual Meeting of the Grand Lodge of the United States, of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows, convened in the city of Baltimore and state of Maryland; present, a representation from Maryland, New York, Pennsylvania, District of Columbia, Delaware, Ohio, New Jersey and Louisiana, the following resolution was unanimously adopted. "That the Committee of Correspondence of this Grand Lodge, be directed to address a congrat ulatory letter to our brethren in Great Britain, upon the state of the Order in that country; and respectfully to suggest to them the propriety of discontinuing all convivial practices in their lodges, and to solicit from them a detailed historical account of the origin, rise, and progress of the Order; and to transmit to them (neatly bound) a copy of the Constitution and proceedings up to this Session, inclusive, of the Grand Lodge of the United States, and the revised work of the Order as adopted at this Session; and most especially to request them to make no alteration whatever in the general features of the Order, without a mutual consultation on the subject-as uniformity of actions and principle is essentially necessary to the welfare to the Order.'
