Escambia.—The county of Escambia shall com- Vor23. 1823. prehend all that part of the State lying to the west and south of a line beginning at the Alabama line where said line crosses the Escambia river; running thence down said river to Escambia bay; thence along said bay to Deer Point, at the intersection of Santa Rosa sound with said bay; thence up said Santa Rosa sound to a line beginning at the east end of Santa Rosa island in the Gulf of Mexico.

10. (10.) Santa Rosa.-The district of country included Feb. 18, 1842. within the following boundaries, to-wit: Beginning at the 11. 1851: 'Ch. Alabama line, where said line crosses the Escambia river; 1853; Ch. thence down the river to Escambia bay; thence along said 881. Ch. bay to Deer Point, at the intersection of Santa Rosa sound 1915. sec. in with said bay; thence up said Santa Rosa sound to where the line dividing ranges twenty-five and twenty-six, west, strikes said sound; thence running up said line to the dividing line between the State of Florida and the State of Alabama; thence with said line westwardly to the point of beginning, shall constitute Santa Rosa county; but the courts of the counties of Escambia and Santa Rosa, respectively, shall have concurrent jurisdiction of offences committed on the waters dividing said counties, and the courts of Santa Rosa county shall have jurisdiction of offences committed on waters adjacent to the shore of the sound or Gulf of Mexico.

Okaloosa.—The county of Okaloosa shall be bounded as follows: Commencing on the Alabama State line where it is intersected by range line dividing ranges twenty-five and twenty-six, west; thence running east along said State line to the intersection of said State line with range line dividing ranges twenty-one and twenty-two, west; thence south along said range line to the Gulf of Mexico; thence in a westerly direction following the meanderings of said Gulf, including the waters of said Gulf within the jurisdiction of the State of Florida, to the eastern point of Santa Rosa island, and along Santa Rosa sound to the line dividing ranges twenty-five and twenty-six, west; thence north along said range line to place of beginning.

Holmes.—The county of Holmes shall be bounded as follows: Commencing on the Alabama State line where it is intersected by line dividing centrally range eighteen, west; thence running south along the section lines to the line dividing township two and three, north, in range eighteen, west; thence east along said township line to the Choctawhatchee river; thence up the main channel of said river to a point where said river intersects with township line between townships four and five, north; thence east along said township line to the northwest corner of section four in township four north, range fifteen west; thence south one mile on section line to the southwest corner of section four, township four north, range fifteen west; thence east one mile to the southeast corner of section four, township four north, range fifteen west; thence south on section lines two miles to the southwest corner of section fifteen, township four north, range fifteen, west; thence east on section lines to Holmes creek; thence northward up Holmes creek to a point where said creek crosses the Alabama line : thence west on said State line to the place of beginning.

17. (15.) Calhoun.—The county of Calhoun shall include Feb. 14, 1873; the country within the following boundaries: Commencing

at the middle of the Apalachicola river where the northern

boundary of township two, range seven, north and west, sos; Revised crosses said river; thence westwardly along said township

line to the middle of Chipola river; thence down the middle of the stream of said river to a point where a line drawn through the center of township two, ranges ten and eleven, west, crosses said river; thence west on said line through the middle of said township two, range ten and township two, range eleven, both north and west, to the range line between ranges eleven and twelve West; thence south along said range line to the Gulf of Mexico; thence south and easterly along the main sliore following its meanderings and embracing the opposite islands to the point where the Forbes line shall reach the Gulf; thence with said line until it crosses the waters of the Apalachicola river; thence up said river to the beginning

18. (16.) Franklin.--All that part of this State included Ch. 412, Jan. within a line beginning at a point on the Apalachicola river, 3624, l'eb. 16, known as the mouth of Owl creek; thence up the western bank of said creek to where the same intersects the middle section line of section twenty-six, of township five, south, of range eight, west; thence due east along the middle section lines to the Ocklockonee river; thence down the eastern bank of said river, including the islands in said river, to the most eastern point of James island; thence south and west along the leeward side of James, Dog, St. George and St. Vincent's islands; thence following the Forbes line to the place of beginning, shall constitute and form a county to be called the county of Franklin.
