FOREWORD The Year Book of the Churches for 1920 follows the same general plan as the 1919 edition. Some new matter has been added and all material has been brought up to date. The information regarding the various religious bodies, in Part I, has been furnished in almost every instance by officials of those bodies, and the same is true of the organizations listed in Part II. The religious statistics are, with minor exceptions, the official figures provided by the denominations themselves, and are the most accurate and up-to-date figures that can be secured. The other statistics are likewise official. The complete list of chaplains in the Army and Navy, found in Part III, is not available elsewhere. The description of the Federal Council, in Part V, gives important information, and a new section has been added to the book, Part VI, describing the Interchurch World Movement, with its departments and officers. The Year Book of the Churches fills a place not occupied by any other publication, and should be of invaluable help to every church leader. Despite increased cost of manufacture the price remains the same, in order that may be available for all who need it. it |
