VI. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that the following ar Jations of Police ticles fhall be taken and confidered, and the fame are hereby declared to be rules and regulations of Police for the said. borough or villages, that is to lay :—

this Act.

All and every the proprietors of a houfe or houfes in the aforefaid borough or villages fhil, from and after the paffing of this Act, place, or caufe to be placed a ladder or ladders on the roof of their respective houfes near to, or adjoining the chimney or chimneys, and another ladder reaching from the ground to the 100f of each and every of their refpe&tive houses as aforelaid, and another and other smaller ladders fufficiently long to reach from the fummit of fuch houfe or houses to the top or tops of fuch chimney or chimneys as aforelaid, under the penalty of five shillings for every neglect fo to do, and of ten fhillings, currency, for each and every week during which they fhall neglect to provide themfelves with fuch ladder or ladders, as aforefaid.

All and every householder or householders in the faid borough or villages, fhall from and after the paffing of this Act, be held to furnish and provide himleif or themselves, w th two buckets fit and proper for carrying or conveying water in cale of accident by fire, under the penalty of two fhillings and fixpence for each bucket which may be deficient, and every fuch householder as aforefaid, fhall be bound and obliged to provide himself with a battering ram, eight feet in length by five inches in diameter, to be kept in the garret of each and every houfe as afore. faid, under a penalty of five fhillings for each and every week during which they ail neglect to to provide themselves therewith.

Any perfon or perfons who fhall enter into any barn, out-house, or stable within the limits of the aforefaid borough or villages, with a candle or lamp, witho...t having the fame well enclosed in a lantern, fhall for every fuch offence incur a hine pena ty of five fhillings, current money aforefaid, and any peiton or perfons who fhall enter into any barn, ftable or out-houfe, within the limits of the aforelaid borough or villages, with a lighted pipe or cigare, fhall for every fuch offence, incur a penalty of five fhulings, currency.

No perfon or perfons in the faid borough or villages fhall be allowed to light. or have a fire in any wooden house or out-houfe of any defc: iption, within the lis mits of the aforefa d borough or villages, unlets the fime be in a chimney, or in a flove of iron, or other metal, under a penalty of twenty fhillings, currency, for each offence,

VI. Et qu'il foit de plus ftatué par l'autorité fufdite, que les articles fuivans feront pris et confidérés, et ils font par le préfent declarés être les règles et règlemen, de Police pour les dits Bourg ou Villages, favoir:

Tous et chaque Propriétaire de Maifon ou Maifons dans les dits Bourg au Villages, feront placer, depuis et après la paffation de cet Acte, une échelle ou des échelles fur le toit de leurs Maifons refpectives, piès ou joignant la cheminée ou les cheminées, et une autre échelle partant de terre jufqu'au toit de toutes et chacune de leurs Mailons refpe&ives comme fuldit, et une autre ou autres échelles plus courtes, mais fuffifamment longues pour atteindre du haut de telle Maifon ou Maifons à la partie la plus élevée de telle cheminée ou cheminées comme fuidit, fous peine d'une amende de cinq chelins pour chaque négligence de le faire, et une fomme de dix chelins courant pour toutes et chaque femaine qu'ils negligeront de s'en pourvoir,

Tous et chaque occupant de Maifon dans les dits Bourg ou Villages feront tenus, depuis et après la paffation de cet Acte, de fe pourvoir et fournir de deux feaux propres et convenables pour tranfporter l'eau dans le cas de feu, fous une pénalité 'de deux chelins et fix céniers, pour chaque feau qu'il y aura de moins, et tous tele occupans de Maifon comme fufdit feront tenus et ob igés de fe pourvoir d'un bélier de huit pieds de longeur fur cinq pouces de diamêtre, qui fera gardé dans le grénier de toutes et chaque Maifons comme fufdit, fous une pénalité de cinq chelins courant, pour toutes et chaque femaine qu'ils négligeront de s'en pourvoir.

Aucune perfonne ou perfonnes qui entreront dans aucune grange, appentis ou étable en dedans des limites des dits Bourg ou Villages avec une chandelle ou lampe, fans qu'elle foit bien rer fermée dans une lanterne, encouront pour chaque telle offenle une amende et pénalité de cinq chelins, argent courant pour chaque offense comme lufdit. Et aucune perfonne ou perfonnes qui entreront dans une grange, étable ou appentis en dedans des limites des dits Bourg ou Villages avec une pipe ou un cigare allumé, encouront pour chaque telle offeufe une pénalité de cinq chelins, argent courant.

Aucune personne ou perfonnes dans les dits Bourg ou Villages, n'aura la liberté d'allumer ou faire du feu dans aucune Maifon ou appentis en bois d'aucune description en dedans des limites des dits Bourg ou Villages, excepté dans une cheminée ou dans un poële de fer ou autre métal, fous une pénalité de vingt chelins, argent courant pour chaque offense.

All and every perfon or perfons who fhall carry or convey fire into, or through any ftreet, lane, public place, yard or garden in the faid borough or villages, or caule fire to be carried or conveyed without having the fame confined in fome copper, iron or tin veffel, fhall for every fuch offence, incur a forfeiture and penalty of two fhillings and fix pence, currency, and for every fubfequent offence of a like nature, a further forfeiture and penalty of five fhillings, currency.

Any perfon or perfons who fhall put, place, or caufe to be put or placed any hy or ftraw in any dwelling-houte within the limits of the faid borough or vil lages, thall incur a penalty of five fhillings, currency, for the first offence, and a pe nalty of ten fhillings, currency, for every week during which they hall neglect 10 remove the faid hay or ftraw from the faid dwelling-houle.

That it fhall not be lawful for any baker, potter, brewer, or any other per fon to build, m ke, or caufe to be built and conftructed, any oven or furnace within the limits of the aforefaid borough or villages, unlets the fame be built or adjoin a chimney of stone or brick, which chimney fhall rise at least three feet higher than the hoofe or building in which the faid oven or furnace may be, under a penalty which fhall not exceed ten fhilings, currency, and for non-compliance with this regulation, the off nier fhall incur a penalty of fifteen fhillings, currency, for each week du ring which he fhall negic to comply therewith.

All and every perfon or perfons who fhall keep or have gunpowder for fale, in the faid borough or villages, fhali keep the fame in boxes of iron, tin or lead, and for every omiffion or neglect fo to do, fuch perfon or perfons fhall incur a penalty of twenty fhillings for the first offence, and of forty fhillings for every fube. Any perfon or perfons in the faid borough or villages, who fhall fell or per-mit to be fold in his or their houfes, ftore houfes, or fhop, out hole or other bild ing, gun-powder after fun-fet, fhall, on being thereof convicted, incur a forfeiture and penalty of forty fhillings, currency, for the fift offence, and of three pounds, currency, for every fubfequ nt offence; and it fhail not be lawful for any perfon or perfons to keep in his or their houfes or fhop, out-houfe or other building, with in the limits of the aforelaid borough or villages, at any one time, any greater quantity of gun-powder, than twenty-five pounds.

All and every perfon or perlons on horseback, or in any calash, cart or

Toutes et chaque perfonne ou perfonnes qui porteront ou tranfporteront du feu dans ou à travers aucune rue, ruelle, place publique, coar ou jardin dans les dits Bourg ou Villages, ou feront porter ou tranfporter du feu fans qu'il foit renfermé dans quelque Vaiffean de cuivre, de fer ou de fer blanc, encouront pour chaque telle offenfe une amende et pénalité de deux chelins et fix déniers courant, et pour chaque off nfe fubléquente de même nature, une amende et pénalité de cinq chelins courant.

Toute perfonne ou personnes qui mettront ou logeront, ou qui feront mettre et loger aucun foon ou paille dans aucune mailon habitée en dedans des limites des dis Boung on Villages, encourort une ame de de cinq chelins, argent courant pour lapiem è offenle, et une pénauté de dix che ins pour chaque semaine qu'elles neggeront d'enlever le dit foin ou paille de la dite mailon.

Il ne pourra être au pouvoir d'aucun Boulanger, Potier, Braffeur, ou à aucune : antre perfonne de faire, faire faire, bâ ir ou édifier aucun four, oa fourneaux en dedans des limites des dits Bourg ou Villages à moins qu'il ne foit fait, ou joignant ure ch.mirée en pierre ou en brique, laquelle cheminée sera exhauffée de trois pieds au moins au-deffus de la Maison ou nâuffe dans laquelle le dit four ou fourneau pourra être, le tout fous ane pénalité qui n'excèdera pas dix chelins courant,, et faute par le contrevenant de fe conformer au préfent règlement, il fera fujet à une pénalité de quinze chelins courant, pour chaque femaine qu'il négligera de s'y conformer..

Toute et chaque perfonne ou personnes qui garderont ou auront de la poudre à tirer pour vendre dans les dits Bourg ou Villages, la tiendront dans des bêtes de fer ou de fer blanc ou de plomb, et pour chaque défaut ou négligence de le faire,, telle perfonne o perfonnes encouront une amende de vingt chelins pour la pre-mière offenfe, et de quarante chelins pour chaque contravention fubléquente.

Toutes et chaque perfonne ou perfonnes dans les dits Bourg on Villages qui vendront ou permettront qu'il foit vendu dans la ou leur Maifon, Hangard, Magafin, Appentis ou autre Bâtiment, de la poudre à tirer après le foleil couche, encouront, en étant convaincus, pour la premiè e offenfe, une amende et pénalité de quarante chelins courant, et pour chaque off nle lublé junte trois livres courant, et il ne pourra être lesible a aucune polonne ou perlonnes de garder en aucun tems dans fa o leur Mailon, Magafin ou Appentis, ou autre Bâ iment en dedans ds limites. des dits Bourgs ou Villages, une plus grande quantité de poudre à tirer que celle : de vingi cinq livres.

other vehicle, who fhall go at a gallop, or at greater speed than an ordinary trot, within the limits of the faid borough or villages, fhall, for every fuch offence, incur a penalty of five fhillings, currency.

All and every perfon or perfons who fall throw, or caufe to be thrown, any filth, rubbish, or ordure into any of the streets, lanes, or public places whit the limits of the aforefaid borough or vil ages, fhall for every fuch offence incur a penalty of two fhillings and fixpence, curre: cy, and of five fhillings, currency, for every week during which they fhall neglect to remove the fame. after notification to that effect by the Inspector, or by fome other person authorized by him for that purpose.

It fhall not be lawful for any perfon in the faid borough or villages, to con duct any ftove-pipe through any wooden or lathed partition, or through any floor, un efs there be a fi ace of fix inches between the pipe and the partition or floor, and such pipe shall be furrounded with theet iron or fin nailed upon fuch partition or floor, the pipe of every ftove fhall be inferted in a chimney, and there fhall be left at least ten inches in the clear, between the faid ftoves and wooden or lathed partitions, and each and every perfon offending against this regulation, fhall incur a penalty of ten fhillings, currency.

Every householder in the 'faid borough or villages, fhall fweep or caufe to be fwept, each and every chimney in which fire fhall be made,at least once every two months, under a penalty of five. fhillings, currency, for each and every negle& to to do, and if fuch chimney tak fire for want of having been swept, fuch householder hall incur a penalty of ten fhillings, currency.

No perfon or perfons hall erect or caufe to be erected, any furnace for making charcoal of wood wuhin the limits of the faid borough or villages, under a penal y of twenty fhillings, currency.

Every person who, through negligence, fhall permit his hog or hogs, horse or horfes, to ftray at large in the ftrecis, lanes or public places within the limits of the faid borough or villages, fhall incur a penalty of two hulings and fixpence, cur rency, for each offence as aforesaid.
