And it fluli b the duty of each and every of the said Inspectors of Flour or Meal, to provide uniform biands, in each of the fatd Districts, and the said Inspectors ate hetebv required to buand thf whole of fie binds or marks, by Law provided to be branded or marked as afbrelaid, upon cask* os Flour or Meal, within a circumference of six. inches, on each and every.of toe Casks, which shall be by them, as aforesaid inspected.

VI.. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that every cask of Floor or Meal, which shall be by such Inspectors examined and inspected, shall be searched and tried,.by boring the heador fidVof the cask or barrel, and piercing it tbr&igh with an instrument, not exceeding five-eighths of an im.h in dianvter, within the guage or bore of such instruments; and for every barrel found, to contain Ft out or Meal of two different kinds of grain, the person owning the (ame, shall, for every such barrel of Flour or Meal, incur a forfeiture and penalty of ten shillings, current money of this Province; and it shall be lawful for the Inspector who shall h .vc inspected such Flour or Meal, to d tain each and every barrel thereof, until the whoW amount of such penalty and forfeiture be paid.

VII. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that no Inspector or Inspectors of Flour or Meal, to be appointed in pursuance of this Act, shall dneci■;; or indirectly, trade or deal in Flour or Meal,, or be concerned in any such trade, nor purchale any Fiour or Meal of any description, otherwise than fox the use and consumption of his or their family or families, under the penalty ot fifty pounds, Current money of this Province.

An ACT to ratify and confirm the Provisional Articles of Agreement entered into by the respective Commissioners of this Province and of UpperCanada, at Montreal on the thirty first day ot May, one thousand eight hundred and seventeen, relative to Duties, and for carrying the lame

TTENDU qu'il a été fait et conclu des articles d'accord provisioned à Montréal, le trente-unième jour do Mai, dans la cinguante-lepuèmc Année du

'Majesty's Reign,: by the Commissioners nominated and appointed on the behalf of the Province of Lower-Canada, by Act of the Legislature thereof, pasted in the said 'fifty-seventh year of your Majesty's. Reign, intituled, " An Act for appointing Cora"" mHIionen to treat with Commissioners appointed, or fob* appointed, on the part of •••Upper Canada, for the purposes therein mentioned," and the Commissioners norni* r-nated and appointed on the part of Upper'Canada. Which Articles follow— Article first. That ihe Legislature of Upper-Canada will not impose any Duties -whatever on a^y goods, wares or merchandize, imported into Lower-Canada, and passing into Cppei.Canada, during the continuance of this agreement, b'it will a'low and admit the Legislature of Lower Canada to impose and ic>y such Duties on such goods, wares and merchandize as they may judge expedient, other than goods imported fromUpper-Canada.
