XVI. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that nothing in this Act contained fhall be conftrued, in any manner or way, to affect the rights of His Majefty, his Heirs and Succeffors, or of any perfon or perfons, body or bodies politic or corporate, fuch only excepted as are mentioned in this Act.

XVII. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that this Act shall be deemed and confidered as a public Act, and as fuch fhall judicially be taken no tice of by all Judges, Juftices of the Peace and others whom it may concern, with. out being specially pleaded.

III. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that from and after the paffing of this A&, the importation of the following articles of the manufacture and produce of the United States of America, fhall upon payment of the following da ties, or fecurity therefore, be permitted, that is to fay: leather of all descriptions, leaf tobacco, fnuff or flour or powder of tobacco, tobacco manufactured in any other way than into fnuff or flour or powder of tobacco, fpirits of turpentine and hops, and upon all or any of the above last enumerated articles, which shall be imported and brought into this Province from the faid United-States of America, there shall be raifed, levied, collected and paid, by the petion or perfons owning or importing the fame, the feveral rates and duties following, that is to fay: five pounds, current money of this Province per centum ad valorem upon leather, including all hides and fkins tanned or otherwife dreffed; two-pence current money aforefaid, upon every pound Avoirdupoise of leaf tobacco, five-pence current money aforesaid; upon eve
