ACTE pour amender un Acte paffé dans la quarante-huitième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté, intitulé,“ Aile pour mieux régler les Poids et Taux auxquels certaines espèces auront cours dans cette Province, pour empê "cher de fa fifier, contrefaire ou diminuer icelles, et pour rappeller un "Acte et une ordonnance y-mentionnés. U qu'il eft expédient et néceffaire de pourvoir à ce que les Monnoies d'or et d'argent de France monnoyées depuis l'Année Mil sept cent quatre-vingt Préambule douze From and after be passing of lowing coins to pass current. two, fhall be made current and be deemed a legal tender in this Province; Be it therefore enacted by the King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the Legislative Council and Affembly of the Province of Low t A& paffedituted and affembled by virtue of and under the authority of an A&t paffed in the Parliament of Great Britain, intituled, " An Act to repeal cer ❝tain parts of an A&t paffed in the fourteenth year of His Majelty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for making more effectual provifion for the Government of the Province of Quebec, in North America," and to make further provision for the Government of this Act, the fol- the faid Province ;" and it is hereby enacted by the authority of the fame, that from and after the paffing of this Act, the following Coins fhall pass current and be deemed a legal tender in payment of all debts and demands whatsoever in this Province, at the following rates and weights, that is to fay, of the gold coin, coined in France fince the year one thousand feven hundred and ninety-two, when weighed by the fingle piece, the forty francs piece, weighing eight penny-weights fix grains, Troy, at one pound fixteen fhillings and two pence, currency, the twenty francs piece, weighing four penny. weights three grains, Troy, at eighteen fhillings and one penny, currency; and of the filver coins of France coined fince the year one thousand seven hundred and ninetytwo, the piece of fix livres at five fhillings and fix pence, currency, and the piece of five francs Tournois, at four fhillings and eigh: pence, currency, and all the higher and lower denominations of the faid gold and filver coins fhall alfo pafs current, and be deemed a legal tender in payment of all debts and demands whatsoever in this Province. The rates and weights. Penalty on persons uttering in payment. II. And be it further enacted by the authority aforesaid, that if any perlon what counterfeit money foever fhall, after the paffing of this Act, utter or tender in payment to any person or persons, any false or counterfeit money, counterfeit to any of the gold and filver coin made current, or intended to pafs current in this Province, as above-fard and provided, or to any of the higher or lower denominations thereof, knowing the fame to be falfe or counterfeit and fhall be thereof convicted, fuch perfon fo offending, fhall fuffer one year's imprisonment, and fhall also be fet in and upon the Pillory for the pace of one hour, in fome market-place; and if the fame person shall afterwards offend a fecond time, in uttering or tendering in payment any fuch falle or counterfeit money as aforefaid, knowing the fame to be lo, and fhall be convicted of fuch fecond offence, he or she fhall be, and is hereby adjudged to be guilty of felony, without benefit of Clergy, Allowance and deduction for below the stand III. Et qu'il foit de plus ftatué par l'autorité fufdite, que fi quelque perfonne quelconque offre ou préfente en payement, après la paffation du préfent Acte, à quelque perfonne ou perfonnes, quelque monnoie fauffe ou contrefaite fur aucune des espèces d'or ou d'argent rendues courantes, ou qui doivent paffer comme ayant cours dans cette Province, tel que ci-deffus fpécifié et pourvu, ou far aucune des dénominations plus hautes ou plus baffes d'icelles, fachant que telle monnoie eft fauffe ou contrefaite, et en eft convaincue, telle perfonne ainfi convaincue, subira une année d'emprisonnement, et fera auffi mife au Pilory durant l'efpace d'une heure, dans quelque place de marché ; et fi la même perfonne commet un fecond délit, en offrant ou préfentant en payement quelque telle monnoie fauffe ou contrefaite, la connoiffant pour telle, et eft convaincue de tel fecond délit, elle fera et eft par le préfent déclarée coupable de Félonie, fans bénéfice de Clergé. Et qu'il foit de plus ftatué par l'autorité fufdite, que pour chaque grain que chacune des fufdites monnoies d'or de France pesera refpectivement plus que le titre ou ftandard fufdit, lorfque pesée leule, il fera alloué et ajouté dans tous payemens, deux deniers et un cinquième de denier courant ; et pour chaque grain que chaque pièce des dites monnoies relpectivement pelera moins que le titre ou ftandard fufdit, la pièce. An Act further to continue for a limited time, and to amend an Act passed in the forty-third year of His Majefty's Reign, intituled, “ An Act for the better regulation of the Militia of this Province, and for repealing certain Acts or Ordinances therein-mentioned." W intituled, (24th April, 1819.) HEREAS by an Act paffed in the fifty-feventh year of His Majefty's Reign, "An Act for reviving and continuing for a limited time, and amending an Act paffed in the forty-third year of His Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for the better regulation of the Militia of this Province and for repealing cer "tain Acts or Ordinances therein-mentioned;" the aforesaid Act paffed in the fortythird year of His Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for the better regulation of Act 43, Geo. 3. the Militia of this Province, and for repealing certain Acts or Ordinances therein. "-mentioned," was revived, amended and continued in force until the first day of May, one thousand eight hundred and nineteen, when the fame will expire; which faid Act paffed in the forty-third year of His Majefty's Reign, it is expedient further to continue, for a limited time, as amended by the aforefaid Act, passed in the fifty-feventh year of His Majefty's Reign: Be it therefore enacted by the King's Moft Excellent Majefty, by and with the advice and confent of the Legiflative Council and Affembly of the Province of Lower-Canada, conftituted and assembled by virtue of and under the authority of an Act passed in the Parliament of Great-Britain, intituled, "An Act to repeal certain parts of an Act palled in the fourteenth 86 year of His Majesty's Reign, intituled, " An Act for making more effectual provifion for the Government of the Province of Quebec in North-America," and to make"further provifion for the Government of the faid Province:" And it is hereby enacted by the authority of the fame, that the faid Act paffed in the forty-third year of His Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for the better regulation of the Militia "of this Province, and for repealing certain Acts or Ordinances therein-mentioned," as amended by the above-mentioned Act, paffed in the fifty feventh year of His Majefty's Reign, intituled, "An Act for reviving and continuing for a limited time "and amending an Act paffed in the forty-third year of His Majefty's Reign, inti"tuled, “An Act for the better regulation of the Militia of this Province, and for re"pealing certain Acts or Ordinances therein-mentioned;" and all and every the claufes, "provifions, powers, authorities, cirections and regulations therein contained, fhall be, and the fame is, and are hereby continued in full force and effect until the first day il fera alloué et déduit dans tous payemens deux deniers et un cinquième de denier courant. II. · Acte pour continuer pour un tems limité, et amender un Acte paffé dans la quarante-troifième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté, intitulé, "Acte pour mieux régler la Milice de cette Province, et pour rappeller cer"tains Actes ou Ordonnances y mentionnés." (24me. Avril, 1819.) V U que par un Acte paffé dans la cinquante-septième Année du Règne de Sa Préambuler "limité, et amender un Acte paffé dans la quarante-troisième Année du Règne de "Sa Majefté, intitulé," Acte pour mieux régler la Milice de cette Province, et pour "rappeller certains Altes ou Ordonnances y mentionnés," le fuldit A&te paffé dans la quarante-troisième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté, intitulé, "Acte pour mieux régler la Milice de cette Province; et pour rappeller certains Actes ou Ordonnances "y mentionnés," a été remis en force, amendé et continué jufqu'au premier jour de l'Acte de la 43e. Mai, Mil huit cent dix-neuf, auquel tems il doit expirer; et vû qu'il eft expédient de Geo. III. cap. I de continuer encore, pour un tems limité, le dit Acte paffé dans la quarante-troisième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté, tel qu'amendé par le fufdit Acte paffé dans la cinquante-feptième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté; Qu'il foit donc ftatué par la Très Excellente Majefté du Roi, par et de l'avis et confentement du Confeil Légiflatif et de l'Affemblée de la Province du Bas-Canada, conftitues et affemblés en vertu et fous l'autorité d'un Acte paffé dans le Parlement de la Grande-Bretagne, intitulé," Acte qui rappelle certaines parties d'un Acte paflé dans la quatorzième Année "du Règne de Sa Majefté, intitulé," Acte qui pourvoit plus efficacement pour le "Gouvernement de la Province de Québec, dans l'Amérique Septentrionale, "Et qui pourvoit plus amplement pour le Gouvernement de la dite Province;" Et il est par le présent ftatué par la dite autorité, que le dit Ate paffé dans la quarante-troifième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté, intitulé,“ Acte pour mieux régler la Mince "de cette Province, et pour rappeller certains A&tes ou Ordonnances y mentionnés,” tel qu'amendé par l'Acte ci-deffus mentionné, palle dans la cinquante-leptième Année du Règne de Sa Majefté, intitule," Acte pour remettre en force et continuer pour un tems limité, et amender un Acte paffe dans la quarante-tro fième Année "du Règne de Sa Majefté, intitulé, "Acte pour mieux régler la Milice de cette "Province, et pour rappeller certains Actes ou Ordonnances y mentionnés ;' toutes et chacune des Claules, Provitions, pouvoirs, autorites, ord.es et reg enns y |
