Davidson in ing the faid bridge, or making or repairing the way over the fame, or any road or ave nue leading thereto, every person, so offending in each of the cafes aforefaid, fall, for every fuch offence, forfeit a fum not exceeding forty fhillings, currency. obstruct the said building the bridge, &c. As soon as the Bridge is com pleted, no other bridge to be e a league on each Bridge. VI. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that as foon as the faid bridge fhall be paffable and opened for the ufe of the public, no perfon or perfons sected within half hall erect, or caufe to be erected, any bridge or bridges, or works, or use any ferry Bide of the said for the carriage of any perfons, cattle or carriages whatsoever, for hire, across the fard river Chaudière, within half a leagueabove the faid Bridge, and below the faid Bridge, between the fame and the St. Lawrence, ; and if any perfon or perfons hall erect a toll bridge or toll bridges over the faid river, within the faid limits, he or they fhall pay to the faid Walter Davidfon, his heirs, executors, curators and affigns, treble the tolls hereby impofed, for the persons cattle and carriages which fhall pafs over fuch bridge or bridges; and if any perfon or perfons fhall, at any time, for hire or gain, pafs or convey any perfon or perlons, cattle or carriages, across the said River Chaudière, within the faid limits aforefaid, fuch offender or offenders, fhall for each perfon, carriage or animal fo carried acrofs, forfeit and pay a fum not exceeding forty fhillings currency, Provided that nothing in this Act contained, fhall be conftrued to prevent the public from paffing any of the Fords in the faid River, within the limits aforefaid, or in canoes, without gain or hire. And be it further enacted by the authority aforefaid, that if any perfon ons pulling down fhali maliciously pull down, burn or deftroy the faid bridge, or any part thereof, or the toll-houle to be erected by virtue of this Act, every person fo offending, on being thereof lawfully convicted, fhall be deemed guilty of felony.
